Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thank you veteran moms for being here for us! I TRULY DONT HAVE THE WORDS TO EXPRESS THE GRATITUDE I HAVE. I don't know how the others are making it without this discussion group here at N4M.

My son is in division 819 Ship 04. Would love to add friends to my list with loved ones in the same division.  I've friended the 800 division, EOD, & PIR 9/18 and Facebook and have enjoyed reading all the posts.  Not that I don't enjoy reading everyone's post.  It is nice to see what my son may be going through today by reading from other's have to say

Catlady that is so true. I have a 15 year old daughter as well as a 17 year old so. Who will join his brother in boot camp on9/8. I have been so focused on my oldest son leaving that I had to remind myself that the younger one is leaving soon as well. It's a hard balance, but I have to make these next few weeks about time with him! Hopefully it will be a distraction for me and I won't sulk so much about missing my first recruit! But boy, when #2 leaves, I have already warned my daughter to please bear with me. Momma will be a mess!

Same as Proudtrojanmommy....daughter left 7/22, form letter 7/31 and first real letter 8/6.

Does anyone know if an SR chooses to reclass they get a call home to inform someone? Or do we just find out the next time a letter comes? My Sailor was discussing it and by the end of his personal letters had changed his mind. I think he is good now and again pleased with his contract, I just hope I would know sooner rather than later if he does end up changing contracts.

A gentle reminder to you all. Please do not start new division discussion for your recruits. Things will be way too spread out by the end of your stay in this group, post will be lost, and questions missed.

Also, If you have a general question for us, please post it on the main wall. Us "vet moms" currently have 7 PIR groups, another being add into the mix in a couple days, and with division discussion added into the mix we are trying to keep up with 80 pages of discussions.

We just don't want something overlooked and missed. Everyone and every question is important!!!!

Just want to thank everyone on here. I don't respond much, but everyday I read what everyone says and it helps me to get through my day. I never thought having a child leave home would leave a Mom feeling so lost. I'm grateful I still have my daughter at home and that I have all of your posts to read.

Amy. Now that you mention it... We must not forget about the other children. I have gotten caught up at times and forgot to be happy I still have them. Taking our son out tonight too. Its just the heart aches and sometimes moms are not as strong as everyone expects. We had to explain this to our daughter. After I apologized for sleeping and crying for 3days after her brother left.
