N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

JELLSMOM if you would like us to send her some cards at some point let me know.  I'm sure she is sad - poor thing.  Hopefully you will get a letter or another call with more information.  And my husband laughs at me for worrying about this exact kind of call.  I'm sure a veteran mom will get on here soon and tell you what happens from this point. I wish I knew.

@TX Trina,  thank you so much....i know all the prayers will help.  We are not sure how it happeend the phone call was so quick...I feel so sad for her, she had become good friends with another girl from texas and now they have moved her to another ship...

JELLSMOM - oh my goodness!!! How did she do that?  I'm so sorry!  I'll add her to our prayer list (and you).

Thanks so much everyone we really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. They admitted her to ICU. She has way too much carbon dioxide which is exactly what i thought. We have seen this several times with her and you begin to know the signs. Sadly she is on lots of medication. She was a smoker, quit 20 years ago but so much damage was already done. She has COPD and her lungs are just terrible. So she breaths in (Oxygen 24/7) but has such shallow breaths she doesn't release enough carbon dioxide. She also has congestive heart failure and Parkinson's disease and is on a blood thinner. They found that her heart medication was way too high a dose and was also cause many of the problems. So they took her off that and will be doing something different with a lower dose. We are getting ready to meet with the doctor in about an hour. I told her I have hundreds of people praying for her and she had a huge smile on her face. We really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. After we meet with the doctor I will come back home and finish up my work I did last night take that all to the PO and then head back to the hospital this afternoon. I cannot even begin to express how much I appreciate all of you <3

tibbittsb, you brought tears to my eyes. My dad and I were in her room last night and her nurse came in. She told my mom if she needed anything at all to ring the button, not to try and get up at all without calling her first. Mom said she has us there and we can help. The nurse was so so sweet and told her firmly "No, that is my job and I want to take care of you, plus it will give them a break" you have no idea how much that meant to us and made us feel safe leaving her there without staying and spending the night in a very uncomfortable chair. My dad is an absolute gem and does everything to take care of her. I am just so glad to know that he was able to sleep all night and not be worried about who was taking care of her :) Thanks so much for your words of wisdom <3

JELLSMOM:  Take a plain black bag with the items in it for her.  But hopefully she can fit them into her Navy-issued backpack.  They have this to carry on, plus a large seabag and garment bag (uniforms) --both checked luggage -- to keep up with. So the less they have to carry, the better!

Vicki:  Not sure you are allowed to pre-order the DVD....but your SR can.  You can call the Photo Lab and ask about that tomorrow:  847 578 6205

Lala,

I am wishing you and your mother they very best with her health care.  I know little about the Navy but I have worked as a health care executive for 24 years.  Health care is such a scary experience even for those of us who live it daily.  I have two very important things for you to remember when dealing with anything health care related.  First, ask questions, ask questions, ask questions!!  Write everything down in notes because it is like speaking a foreign language and you will forget crucial details.  Even if you have what you think is a small question... ask it!!!  Second, and of equal importance.  We who work in health care do it to help the patients and their families.  We are completely there because we want to help you and your family member.  You are absolutely our priority, what we care most about during our time at work and even after work.  As a result.... we are there to serve YOU.... not the other way around.  Don't be afraid of inconveniencing us....you aren't!!  Sure sometimes we appear to be bothered... but we aren't.... what you typically see is worry about our patients.
