Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

This was posted by a mom from a recently graduated PIR group:

If you want a great Steak place we went to Lovell's.  just a short drive south of GL.  It is owned by Jack Lovell the Astronaut.  Your Sailor will eat free.  Make reservations and plan at least 90 minutes for your dinner.  It is served in courses and is so well worth it.

Should have said:  No BattleStations dates can be posted on this site!  Sorry!

Comment by diannep on September 14, 2013 at 8:57am

Remember, everyone...no BattleStations are allowed to be posted on this site.  RTC's request.  Only private messaged.

Got a letter yesterday from our SR in DIV 360 who said the next phone call would be on the 18th, so I'm assuming they will do Battle stations on the night of the 17th. Has anyone heard anything else?

Comment by diannep on September 13, 2013 at 8:18pm

Vicki:  I will send you the info in a friend request.  Please read the info before you hit ACCEPT  (if you want to hit accept) or the info goes away!

Captains Cup tomorrow for this group...in the morning!  Fun athletic competition between the divisions!

Comment by diannep on September 13, 2013 at 4:54pm

TXTrina>  No, no last names of SRs are allowed on here.  However, you can use intiais, hometown, and division number and ask that family members friend request you so you can talk privately using last names.
