OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

*Correction:  By BATTLESTATIONS Day, not PIR Day!  Sorry!

Comment by diannep on September 25, 2014 at 6:38pm

Just to ease some minds.....they will make it through BattleStations.  Even if some fall asleep (their shipmates try to keep each other awake!) and have to go through again, they will and they will pass.  So if you ladies with SRs going through tonight didn't get a phone call from your SR by now, saying that he/she failed their final PFA, etc....then assume all is "GO" and they will be sailors in the morning!  They are supposed to call home if they didn't pass this test by PIR day.

williwish:  Ahhh....isn't that the truth?  When our children are in a "good place" in life and happy, it puts the biggest smiles on our faces.  And when they are struggling, our tears are immense!  But we know that we all learn through struggles and challenges, so we have to keep positive even during those times!

I have been on an emotional roller coaster since my son left for boot camp but, there is just something about....when my son sound's happy in his letters....Mom's happy! Yes, I want the clock to turn back and we go back to the way it was but...I know in my heart that it's not happening. So, as long as he is happy at what he is doing, I will remain positive and look forward to seeing his handsome face...and looking forward to giving him the biggest hug ever!!

DCmmom:  I have having a bad day today too.  This last week before PIR is nerve wracking.  I am teary also.  I am thinking about all the SR's that start Battle Stations this evening.  I am keeping positive thoughts for everyone.  Will light my blue candle tonight.

I received a letter from my SR today.  He sounds great and shared lots of information of what he has done this past week and is actually looking forward to Battle Station.  I am still a wreck.  I cry at the drop of the hat.  I cleaned his room the first week he was gone just to be around his things. I have made him a book entitled your journey through my eyes and was planning on giving it to him at PIR.  However, the final picture needs to be him in his dress whites as a sailor, having made this journey worth while.  Thank you for the web site. It is a saving grace although I don't post very often.  Just knowing that there are other mothers feeling the same way, helps me get through each day.  I am both excited and proud of my son and cannot wait to see him, smell him, hug him, just to be in his presence.I feel my life has been on hold since he has left.  I need to breathe again.  Can't wait!!!!!

yellowtorpedo:  I agree with what CatMom said about extras on base.....RTC has requested that they stay off.  However, one mom last week in that PIR said that their extras were allowed into the Chapel to watch the Livestream and then were able to hurry over to PIR Hall afterwards to give a quick hug to their sailor.  Everyone is ushered out of the Hall after about 10 min.  If the Chapel fills with extras, they would not be allowed to have anyone else in there.  They still would prefer that extras stay off base, but if need be, there may be provisions for you.  You may want to call RTC and check with them directly:  847 688 2405

Please post and let us know if they still ask that extras stay off base.  My info from them was a few months back.
