OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

CONGRATULATIONS to all the new Sailors and their families!!  Safe travels to all to an awesome PIR!!

Remember, PIR is just the beginning of the Navy journey.  Keep plugged into Navy for Moms where there are groups for A school, C school,  ratings (jobs), bases, ships, states, regional, twins and multiples, and the Christian Chat that I am a part of!

Also, the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page on Facebook puts up photos from each PIR.  If you see your Sailor in a pic or more, you can download it to your own computer by either clicking on the picture, going down to Options and downloading it OR right click, "Save Picture As" to a file on your computer~~

Oh no!!! :( I just checked our flight out of Dallas in 6 hours and it's still on. I hope it doesn't get cancelled or we will also be booking it by car. Praying for everyone's safety all around.

Navyprincessmom I'm sorry to hear about your flight. Sounds like you will be having a long drive like we do, we will be leaving around 7am tomorrow morning. I will be praying for you and your family to have a safe trip.

I'm so sorry to hear that navyprincessmom! We were fortunate enough to have a smooth trip over here with no issues. I'm happy that you are still able to find another method of transportation and am sure you will make it in time to see your loved one graduate. We will say a prayer for you and your family that you all make it safely.

My son just called and said he can't wait to see us on Friday then he dropped some info on me that I don't know what to do with. I asked him if he got his orders yet and he said he is graduating but they have put him on a medical hold for a couple of weeks so he doesn't know when he'll ship to A school. He said he doesn't have any idea what the hold is for. Did anyone have any insight into what the heck is going on?????? I'm a little freaked right now.
