Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Your SR will most likely arrive at the airport at 2:00 am, not fly out. Flights usually begin at about 6:00 am and leave throughout the day.
I know family members (mom, dad, silbings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc..) are welcome to go to the Gate with the new Sailor, but not sure about close friends. This would be the perfect question to contact the USO office at the airport to see what they say about friends seeing Sailors off. Everyone must have state issued identification or school id/birth certificate/social security card if they are a child.

I really want to attend my boyfriends graduation from boot camp in October. My tight budget is making it difficult. Is there anyone out there who would be interested in trying to make this trip together and share expenses (shuttle, hotel, ect..)?

Hello beachgirl, I had questions in regards to going to the airport when my son flies out. I googled and ran across a site called Navy Pass In Review Weekend. That had some great info on flying in , hotels the actual day of graduation etc.

Just watched the Naval graduation via the livestream. It brought tears to my eyes. Cannot wait until 10/3.

Hello Everyone! I am new to all of this! I am here supporting my boyfriend. Reading all your comments is really helpful as It makes me feel less alone. Right now I am trying to plan my trip to the great lakes for graduation. Any advice on how to make that trip on a tight budget? You all inspire me! :)

ambermc, there is nothing worse than the helplessness of knowing they are suffering and not being able to help them. The absence of him in the home now is really starting to set in. I long to hear his voice even knowing it will make me miss him more! It is a quandary of the worst kind!
