N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

To our 'veteran" members...when my daughter called yesterday she said she is charge of everyone in her division signing in and out...do you know what this is?  She mentioned the title but I didn't catch it and didn't want to waste phone time asking her to repeat it.

We also got a 4 min phone call earlier this evening. It was short but I'll take it! Our boy sounds great. Makes feel good to hear his voice. Good night all! (Ship 11 DIV 305)

marthab:  Here are the hotels recommended by others on this site:

Navy Lodge (book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID)....about a mile from base....economical, nice staff, simple but sufficient lodging

Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn.....4-5 miles from RTC, but close to Sarge's MeetandGreet the night before PIR for families.  They use to offer a Navy Graduation discount if you called the hotels directly.  However, a person in one of the PIR groups who works for Marriott (3 of the hotels mentioned are Marriotts) said that is not policy.  I still would call the hotels directly and see.  If anyone does this and finds that they still offer the Navy Grad discount, please post that here for future reference !  Thanks!

I got the best 23 minute call from my son. 13/314. He has a new bunk mate & he's passed all his test thus far. We are a running family so I was proud he did his miles in 12 minutes. He's so excited to get to the "fun stuff". He will need to get his wisdom teeth removed but he's not sure when. He received my 1st letter. Week 2 almost complete! 41 more days till I hug my son.

We have just gotten our first phone call today..it was awesome to hear his voice. I asked why we have not gotten his letter with all his info and he said that he forgot to put a stamp on the envelope. Does anyone have suggestion for lodging for graduation?

Congrats on the calls today!
