N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thank you very much!

FlowerPowerNavyMom, We know this seems like a great idea but we don't recommend having separate facebook groups for individual divisions. Usually there are only a few people from each division and if you all are in a separate group them you miss out on a lot of information. There are lots of OPSEC rules and other issues that come up and we suggest staying on this site and the PIR group page on facebook. The facebook group is private and we have 7 people there to help answer questions and monitor the posts to make sure everyone is obeying OPSEC rules. This site also has lots of volunteers to monitor the groups here as well for the same issues. On facebook we can show you how to set up a private chat for those from the same division that will give you the chance to get to know each other better. And this group page here will also add discussion groups at the top of the page to do the same :) So there is really no need for another group page and you may miss out on meeting some really cool people from the same PIR group who are in the same or different divisions :) Here is the link for the facebook PIR group but please be sure to remain active both hereon this site and on facebook to be able to meet the most people and have a great experience :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/738663742864766/

Welcome to the new members of this group!

The SRs can pay to send the box with their clothes back....or....donate them.....or....throw them out.  Most will send them back, especially if they have a phone with them, but some may have worn old clothes they don't care about, not taken their phone, so donate or throw out.  The box can sometimes take up to 2.5 or 3 weeks to receive.

Good Morning!

Rec'd the letter 3 days after the box.  I dreaded opening that box. I longed for it but didn't want the flood of emotions that I thought was going to come along with it. I have never been so happy to smell 4 days worth of dirty clothes and 2 pair of shoes.  :)  It brought back happy memories of wrestling clothes.  My son is in Ship 13 Division 313.  Anybody else?

Hello! My son is in Ship 12 DIV 312. I got my son's letter regarding PIR for 03 Oct. I can't wait. I'm so excited.

Mandy_0329, my stepson is ship 11 div 305. I was beginning to think I wasn't going to find another mom out there in the same division. Of course I hear that 305 and 306 train together. Hearing his voice Saturday was more than words can express. We are excited to get to Oct 3rd. :)

Pammy:  It probably really doesn't matter which hotel you stay in.  Since he will have Liberty through the weekend, you will be picking him up early in the morning and returning him to base later that night Sat.. and Sun, and will be picking him up after he moves over there on Fri afternoon.  Personally, since Navy LODGE is not actually on base, that may be a better choice.  Your sailor may enjoy visiting a hotel that is off of a base!

DylansMom:  When you check into Navy Lodge, they will change the reservation then to your sailor's name.

Yes, Lianna, since he is flying out and still under RTC's rules, I don't believe there will be a problem with your sailor visiting Gateway if you decide to stay there.  The Navy Lodge should be no problem either.
