~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

williwish:  Thanks so much for verifying that they do offer the Navy Grad rate at the Courtyard.  Yes, I knew it was for a certain number of rooms, so the earlier a person calls, obviously the better chance they have to get that rate!  I have read posts of those who called too late and the rooms were booked.  Since Courtyard has this discount, Springhill Suites and Residence Inn should also since they are all Marriotts and they usually have the same policies.  You may want to call Holiday Inn back and ask about the Navy Grad rate...they will change the reservation for you if available.

My son was sick last week but did not mention this week. He has some days that he is down but, it sounds like they pump each other up when they are down. He too laughed with me a few times so that told me that it was getting better. He really likes his bunk mate. He is from Michigan and is in the Nuke program. I too am counting down!

Good morning! I heard from my son as well yesterday. It was so great to hear from him. He is sick too, which is not usual for him, but he said everybody is getting sick. He sounded a little down. He said he has been fine but had a bad day yesterday but wouldn't go into it. He said he wrote me about it. I reminded him that this was just a temporary experience and that we were all so proud of him. He managed to crack some jokes so I know he's ok. Counting down the Fridays!

Thank you so much for the info! We received our first call yesterday and about 15 mins later received a second. :)

We were so excited to hear his voice that we didn't get anything from him other than his Div and PIR date. We haven't received the formal letter yet but should this week. Unfortunately, he forgot to add the stamp so it's a little delayed.

I wish I would have known to ask about his teeth but I will be sure to get my list if questions started. :) I've learned sooo much from this group since joining AFTER our call with him. Y'all are a huge blessing! Thanks again!!

MonicaF, My son explained to me last night, the Oct 3rd graduating group will be the last ones to wear the dress white uniforms. The following class will be wearing the dress blues uniforms. I was also surprised to find out that they removed all 4 of his wisdom teeth on Tues. He seems fine.

MonicaF I have seen & heard that a lot of families decorate their hotel room doors in honor of their Sailor. You can buy them & have the personalized but it is a little pricey. So I am making my own which I think most do. Just a little something to show your support and love.

Last night was the first time I was able to hear my son's voice.I have no words to describe how excited I was. My husband talked to him last Saturday and I was not home. :( I wanted to comment about the hotels for Graduation. At this time, I have two different hotels booked. I did receive the Navy discount rate at the Marriott Courtyard. I called the hotel directly and from my understanding, they only have so many rooms available for that rate. I also have the Holiday Inn Convention Center booked. They did not mention any special Naval Rates but I did not ask. We have stayed there previously and it was very nice. We have friends and family coming down to stay so still deciding which hotel would be the best option for everyone.

Hi Lala, in a previous post you mentioned a change date of Oct. 6th. What is a change date?

Connorsmom, you mentioned PIR door decorations, is this customary for families?

Thanks so much! We are new to the Navy life and are trying to learn as much as possible!

I got another call yesterday. He sounded pretty good. He just said he is getting upset because some guys think they are still in high school & they are getting everyone else in trouble. He is so frustrated with that. Still misses home. Can't wait to see him. I hope everyone has a great day and hopefully before we know it 10/3/14 will be here and we get to see our sweet childrens faces.
