OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Asking for prayers for my daughter...got a call yesterday that she has one last chance today, to pass her PFA.  If she doesn't pass today, no PIR for her!  Suffered severe shin splints several weeks ago, had therapy, overcame that obstacle!  Released to full duty the day before #2 PFA, of course, she failed that one.  By the time #3 came around, they had administered the last immunization which made her sick and moved into her chest, she missed it by 20 seconds because of her breathing!   She tried again yesterday only to have a TTO called with 40 seconds left and her being on her last lap!  Her spirit is broken, she's been moved away from her friends in her division and is ready to give up!  Pray for the strength to make it through the physical hardship and the determination to see her dream through to fruition!  Thanks to all of you for your continued support!

Happy Birthday to him, Debra!

ladyhowl:  So glad you get extra time with your sailor this weekend!  He would have been held at A School anyway, so glad his being held there will give you extra weekend time.
