Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Ship 12 Div 372 - my daughter called here Saturday AM.  It was good to hear her voice.  She sounded tired but upbeat.  She was complaining that they were making her eat too much.  HA!  She said that she would be allowed to write on Sunday (yesterday) so now I am like a hawk waiting for that mailman to appear.

Has anyone with an SR in Div 819 received a call?

Anyone from Ship 12 Division 371?  I got a call from my SR Saturday but still no form letter.

Janet- my son has a phone card also but don't know if he activated it either!  Well I made reservations at the Navy Lodge for graduation, I will be there 10/04 whether I hear from him or not!  I am very eager for the first letter from him.  I'm dying to know all about it!

Thanks DIANNEP for sharing your findings. We have a friend who went up last month and stayed at the Navy Lodge and they were very happy there.

Andrew hasn't called me or his Dad yet.  He does have a girlfriend, if he called her I hope she would have mentioned it to me but I haven't heard anything aside from that initial "I'm here call"  Though I worry now that Andrew doesn't know our phone numbers without his cell phone.  I guess I will include them in my next letter.  Getting the form letter with his PIR date and address has helped with the worry but I keep telling myself that No news is good news.  I didn't think they could even call before 3 weeks but now that I see divisions have been making calls I keep my phone with me at all times...just in case.
