Hi Arianna, my husband is also in ship 10 Div 336. He went to bootcamp on the 16th. Have you heard anything from your husband? I got 2 calls from mine today, but they were both about documents that he needed me to fax to him. I look forward to hearing from you and any others with loved ones in this group!
HI! My son/grandson (adopted by us) is in Ship 10 Div 336. He has the job of yeoman. We are from Arizona and plan to be at the graduation. Great to know others with family in this Ship.
I'm so happy to hear from you both since your loved ones are with my hubby!!

@SoulStar- My hubby left the house the 15th, but he left for IL on the 16th as well. Last I heard from my hubby was last Tuesday, when he called me because he needed me to Fedex him his ID. Other than that I haven't heard anything from him, except receiving his box of clothes and the papers which informed me of his address, (although I had already obtained that from his recruiters) and the day of his graduation. Are you going to his graduation? I so want to go! I already booked the hotel and the car, all I have to book now is the flight, but I'm waiting til I get paid for that!! LOL! I look forward to chatting with you since our hubby's are shipmates! I pray for him all the time! I just wish he would write back!! Best of luck to your hubby!!

@Karen- I'm glad your son is with my hubby!! We are from NJ and also plan to attend graduation. It will be so worth it, just to see his face! I wish our boys the best of luck!
Karen, nice to meet you! My husband's rating is Hospital Corpsman. We are from Houston, TX and I definately plan to attend the graduation. I've been in the middle of researching the best options all day long. Good luck to your loved one.

Arianna, my husband was also picked up by his recruiter on the 15th, but didn't officially leave until the next day. I'm totally going to the graduation. I've booked a car, too, and I'm still looking at hotels. Which hotel did you find? LOL @ you waiting until payday for the flight...you and me both. I'm planning to buy the ticket as soon as I get paid on the 31st. I found a pretty decent ticket ($250) on priceline and I hope it stays that price until I can pay for it next week. I wonder if our husbands have gotten to know each other. I pray for mine all the time, too, and I can't wait to get some sort of real phone call or letter from him. Best of luck to your hubby, also!

How are the both of you holding up so far with them being gone? My kids and I seem to be doing extremely well, but I wonder how I will be in a few weeks once all of this starts taking it's toll...
I'm not doing so bad! Some days are better than others, but I still miss him. I want to definitely go to his graduation and hopefully will be able to do so, even though I'm getting operated on Monday. I think I should be good to go!! It will make my hubby very happy.

I do hope our husband's know each other. My hubby is very shy, but I do hope he becomes friends with some of his shipmates! I hope he is doing ok and just like you would love to receive a real phone call or a letter. I write to him daily, it makes me feel good, kinda like if I'm talking to him. It's comforting to me so I do it often!

I have an official countdown on my phone and in 44 days will be able to see him!! I can't wait!!
I hope your operation goes well! I'm sure your husband has had to break out of his shyness while in BC because it seems that there are a lot of team building activities in there. I know what you mean about the letter writing being comforting. I write to him everyday, also. I'm usually not big on writing letters, but since it's my only form of communication I actually find myself looking forward to it each night.

44 days actually doesn't seem that bad! I guess you will be the one in charge of keeping us all up to date with the countdown, lol.
I definitely will keep the countdown for us!!!
So good to hear from both of you. As I said, we are from Phoenix, Arizona. We are driving to the graduation. I booked a room at the Super 8 hotel. For a room with one bed it was $53.99 and for two beds it was $59.99. Our daughter, her husband and their 3 children are also coming to the graduation from Grand Rapids, MI. Justin left here on Aug. 12. Funny that they come in at different times. The only thing I have heard from him is the 20 second phone call, the "box" and the information for the Navy with a few lines from him. One of his friends left today for boot camp. Can't wait to find out what division she is in.

Justin is going into Advanced Electronics-Computer-Fire Control. Looking forward to hearing from both of you and others in this Ship. Karen
How far is the drive from AZ to IL? You know what...I didn't even think of the Super 8. I will have to check into that. Most of their locations are decent with great prices. The prices you quoted aren't bad and that's cheaper than the Navy Lodge which is rumored to be the cheapest. Is the Super 8 in Great Lakes? or somewhere on the outskirts like Waukegan? You're right about them all arriving at different times, but graduating on the same day. What time did you get your phone call? My 20 second call came around 2am. I was in a dead sleep and completely delirious when I answered the phone.

His job field sounds cool. Was that his first choice?
It's about 1800 miles. We were just back in that area in July. Took a trip up through Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri and North Dakota doing genealogy and also to visit our daughter and grandchildren in Michigan. Did you get a brochure from the Navy with your form letter from them? The Super 8 is about 4.5 miles from the base and they have a shuttle. We got our call the day after he left sometime in the middle of the afternoon. Guess we were lucky it wasn't in the middle of the night. Yes, his job was offered and he grabbed it. Has your husband been in the medical field prior to the Navy?
1800 miles...wow! I'm also into genealogy so that sounds exciting. Did you find any new family info? I'm glad you reminded me about the brochure because I tossed it to the side once I saw my husband's handwriting on the form letter. No, my husband was not in the medical field before, but that was his career goal.
My son is 20 and is with your husband looking foreword to all the info and hotels. I'm in California
