N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Mine wants Taco Bell, to go shopping for new underwear, her cell phone, computer, and a book she was in the middle of reading when she left.

Comment by Curlyq on September 21, 2015 at 12:38pm

My doesn't want food, she wants things.  However, she hasn't told what things she wants.  I figured it would be her computer and phone. But now it might just be her own underwear and fluffy pj's.  lol

Just a reminder for those flying out for A School that any personal items you bring for your sailors have to be exchanged at the airport....and need to fit in their existing luggage, preferably their carry on Navy backpack.  They also have a large seabag and a garment bag (uniforms)...these are checked luggage.  Keep in mind that your sailor must be responsible for carryng all of his/her luggage on their own.  So an extra bag to carry is not a good option!  You can always ship more personal items to them once they are at A School.

Good Morning!

Steven's Mom,

Does your SR have A school at Great Lakes?  If so, maybe you can make his favorite meal, but be aware that the Navy Lodge kitchenettes don't have an oven.

If he's flying out to A school, treat yourself to a meal out too because you will only have time for lunch and a dinner or maybe only 1 meal before he has to report back his barracks.  He will want some time in your hotel room for a long, private shower!  Bring a set of comfy clothes for him to relax in your hotel room~~

Xraytech1.

It would be a good idea to contact the Residence Inn since you will need to know what they allow in attaching a banner or poster to the door.  Also ask about putting it up inside the hotel room and what is allowed.  Please don't put your SR's last name on the banner if you really want it on the hotel room door.  Some SRs may prefer banners/posters to be inside the hotel room, where it would be fine to put the full name~~

navymom0812,

Sounds like your SR is "banking his calories" for that Chicago pizza!!

Good Evening Ladies..Xraytech1 here! hope everyone is well and have heard from their SR's either by calls or letters. I need some information, does anyone know if it's ok to make banners for your hotel room door if you are not staying at the Navy Lodge. I have a hotel room at the Residence Inn and was wondering if they will let the families of the SR's decorate the hotel door with a banner. I would like to make and congrats banner for my SR..
