Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Got letters from Britt today! So happy she is doing good and is liking military life so far. She did not get to call Saturday cause she had watch and was upset about that. Says she will get a makeup call but didn't know when. Happy about being in the camo uniforms cause she isn't the newbie anymore.

nicki'smom: Here are the hotels recommended by others on this site from earlier groups:
Navy Lodge Great Lakes....a mile or so from RTC.....book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID....simple, but affordable, clean, comfortable, great staff. They fill up soon so call early. No problem if you have to change/cancel for any reason usually.
Other hotels recommended are:
Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express, all of there close together, near Sarge's MeetandGreet held for families (no sailors there) the night before PIR. Lots of info there! 4-5 miles from RTC, about a 10 min ride. Call these hotels directly and ask for the Navy Graduation rate. They have limited number of rooms at this rate...I understand that it is about the same as the AAA rate. We used our AAA rate when there, stayed at Residence, really enjoyed it. CatMom stayed at Holiday Inn Express and said it was great too.
If you are interested in other hotels besides these, you may just want to google Great Lakes Hotels. Believe it or not, when my son was up there back in 2009, that is how I found Residence. But be sure to call the hotels direct to see if they offer the Navy Graduation discount.

I received my call Saturday, ship 12 div 321....my daughter sounded great! Told me she was not homesick and knew I would not be offended...They were going to do the platform jump and swim next day and she could not wait. Does anyone know what link I can click to find hotels in area for PIR? Bought my plane ticket!!!

It would be great for this PIR group to start your own "BASKET PROJECT for the MEET & GREET!" Would you be able to head it up by keeping track of the donated baskets coming in? If so, please contact Sarge at 847-212-0246 to let him know you'd like to start a Basket Project for this PIR, then start a Discussion in the Forum up above so other folks can jump in and let you know what they can bring.
