I'm so happy Josh's mom :)

Tiffany received a box today from the people she went to for Thanksgiving Adopt A Sailor...  she got some Cuddle??? thingies, undergarments (like long johns) she got some Isotoner gloves, which she needed because somehow she was not issued any winter gloves, mint chocolates that were made in Chicago, two Christmas ornaments that were Navy related, more pictures of the dogs that they had... this family was so nice and continue to be so nice :) :)  They are, I would say from the pics, early 30's??  no children of their own, he's a PhD and she is a Nutrionist, he said his grandfather was in WWII and they have always supported the military and were happy to get Sailors this year, as last year they were turned down, due to too many families applying! :)   I think the three sailors that visited them gave them as much joy and the sailors got back by having a home cooked meal and "family time" :)   THANK YOU to the Navy for allowing the program and for Tiffany getting lucky enough to have such a wonderful family adopt her :)

Just wanted to check in and say hi. I was on vacation last week. Got to spend some time with my sailor son. For some reason I still end up spending alot of money on him. Anyway, he drove to his command yesterday and is now getting settled in. It was a good visit but its hard to let them leave again.

I had NO clue. I didn't wonder too much, because he said they leave a skeleton crew on the base because everyone couldn't just leave and have no one on the base.  That seemed to make sense, what didn't make sense was to leave the guys there that wouldn't know what to do if something did "happen".  I have no experience whatsoever with military life, so it seemed like a plausable explanation to me that you could not shut down a base.  I guess I was a little naive.

Josh's mom-sounds like when it rains it pours.  I am so sorry for all your troubles.  And Steph having her shoes stolen right off her rack!  That shocks me.

My son gave me a quite a surprise.  He told me quite awhile ago that he could not make it home.  He was pulling my leg and actually flew in and my sister picked him up at the airport and brought him to the family Christmas party.  My daughter and I were so surprised and happy to see him we were crying buckets!  Best christmas present ever!  Hope everyone is enjoying their time with their sailors.  Glad that those who have traveled so far made it home safely.

Josh's mom - my sympathy to you on the loss of your friend.

My sailor finally made it home at 3:10 am.  He spent 12 hrs. in the airport waiting to leave.  He has been stormed by friends all day.  Went out to dinner tonight and Seby is now ENGAGED -  YES - ENGAGED.  I no longer have a little boy.  On the other hand, I need lots of prayers please for his future brother-in-law who is 14.  He is in the hospital in intensive care as he has diabetes and hasn't been feeling well.  His levels went way high and he was getting sick and all.  It was sad tonight although exciting as his parents watched Seby propose in his dress blues on his knee even knowing the son was in the hospital.  Everyone is so excited though.  Will post pictures soon.  I am exhausted, going to bed have been up way too many hours, and too much excitement for this mom.  Everyone enjoy their time with their sailors. Prayers are with my extended family for the sailors that are away.

3 more days until I see my sailor. I can hardly wait. Last two weeks of school have been very hard. He is doing well. :) We get to have 11 days with him. Even my two year old grandson is excited about seeing "Uncle Yam." I trust all at home sailors and family will have memorable holidays with them.  Those whose are already in the fleet I pray a good Christmas, also.

For those Sailors not able to be home.  You are all in my prayers.

Like GCMB,  my blinders are off, and I see the world in different eyes. Sitting at the airport yesterday I too watch our Military brothers and sisters meet their love ones.  I am so proud of each and everyone of them.  Enjoying my time with mine now.  Tomorrow is another day.  Thank you Lord for this day.  I am so blessed.

Take care my extended family.  Each day is a blessing. now is shop til you drop! lol
