OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I'm sorry MtnMom.... :( I hope you stay!! I love your sentiment about being supportive of each other and I think for the most part we are... but at times the recruits do send letters that are down and sad so we post about them, like Tiff calling today, she was sad, I WAS HAPPY but she wasn't and she's scared and where was the first place I ran to tell about it... here!! It's an outlet for us as well, good news or bad news... I really hope you do not think it's all bad.... I am the FIRST person around to try to lighten the mood or change the subject or something.. I am NOT a negative person at all, so will always try to turn bad into good... please reconsider, we are all here for support!! :):):) It's been a long 6 weeks, we are almost there!!

exactly. he's telling me by what he's written he's doing well and has gotten a few medals. and hasn't mentioned any bad news. i'm remaining positive and looking forward to PIR date 10/1!!!

Yes, it MAY be possible to set back an entire div, however it would be extremely rare. I think remaining positive is what is best. This time away from our SR's is hard enough without all the added worry. Go with the FACTS you have in your hand, and remain hopeful.

exactly they may send that individual home if injured or whatnot or set them back but to send an entire division back, omg it'd have to be pretty bad! and yea i could relate bellaboo.... i have my days where i'm like that lol..

Taken from the Form letter..." Please note: while a division's graduation date will not change, an individual recrit's graduation is dependent on successful completion of the training reqquirements. Should your recruit experience a disruptioin in training due to an academic or physical test, failure, injury or illness, they will call home that day to advis you of the change."
