Yes, sailor mom. Each division has a section. There will be an honor guard in the front of it (who belongs to that division) with the division number. I believe there is a special section for those families whose sailors received honors. The lowest numbered divisions go to the far end of the Hall; the 900 and 800 are closer to the entrance. That is the way it was in our group. Yes, your sailors will be in front of you...will march right by you...and then stand on the far wall in front of your section.

there was only 5 divisions in our PIR so we had plenty of time and room. We stayed at the Navy Lodge so no shuttle but left hotel at 6:45 went right thru gate and parked, showed ID and in seat by 7:15. Wouldnt took that long but missed my turn and had turn around and next gate..LOL sure they use to that
We went in at Gate 8- on Ohio St.

Im curious... is there like sections for each division family to sit... so our sailors will be in front of us...

Oh, and we also had to wait for our sailor to bring back the pictures, but had no problem getting the shuttle. They run until noon. But I understand now that you have to cross a street by the base to get them (as of 3 weeks ago)? That may make a difference. They were allowed right in the front parking lot on the base when we went in Feb. Someone posted that the rule changed and that they are no longer allowed on the base.

louann: Where are you staying? We were at Residence Inn and found the shuttle very easy. In fact, we almost missed it! Walked out of the building to go to the lobby and the taxi was there with people getting in it. Thankfully we had our name on the list the night before so were able to leave on the 6:30 one. Seated in the Hall by 7.

louann - my experience - take your car.. The shuttles were packed and had to make several trips and they leave around 6:45.... We we able to leave at 6:00 and still waiting in traffice but got good seats! That was what a lot of us did. Also - I was able to wait after PIR for my son to go back to his ship and get his Pictures... which took a bit - no race to get back to catch the shuttle back to the hotel.... everything was leisurely for us.....

Thanks Lydia for the advice. So is it better to shuttle from the hotel or drive your car? I am not sure which would be the fastest. I've heard both. Any suggestions anyone?

I hate being patient! LOL But made Thursday my favorite day now... I just can't wait until we can text and TALK to them after they go into A school, I wrote that to her over and over... "Just Wait... soon you'll see MEEEEE and then in a few days after that, you will get your phone and computer and can FB!!!!"

Hi everyone!!! Just peeking in to the up coming PIR groups!! My son PIRd on 09-02..... is now in P'cola getting classed up for his Aircrew Candidate School - also a bit of a roller coaster ride but NOTHING like this! So, yall have Battle Stations to look forward too and then off you go! I hope yall are doing the Meet N Greet at the Ramada. It was GREAT for all of us! Meet so many and have continued to stay in touch! The Ramada Inn did a GREAT job. We also decorated and put Division place cards on each table so we could find each other.

Battle Stations - just be sure on the day your recruit is due to finish it.... that you hang out here on this site and as the calls start coming in - let everyone know so that they will know to start watcing for their calls too. Our PIRs started at about noon but my sailor did not call until about 4:45... And No he did not yell out --- "MOM IM A NAVY SAILOR !!" hahah I had to ask him! Bratt! :o) he was just so tired. Besides it is just another day for them for us its awesome to see that famous area code and know that this Roller Coaster is about over!

Best advice I can give about the PIR ceremony is be prepared to scream your loudest when your Div comes busting through those big ole doors and gets announced. Keep your camera strap secured AROUND your wrist - I dropped mine under the bleachers and cried like a baby cause I was already a total WRECK - yes a young man fished it out for me with his grandpa's cane. Also, which ever hotel you are staying at prob has a shuttle but we took our car and left at 6:10 - sat in TRAFFIC for ever even leaving that early - got through the gate and parked (there are attendents who will guide you through all the way to park) got in another long line of people this time just to get through the check in station (ID will be comared to your Sailors list) Then you walk what seems for ever to the Grad Hall! The shuttles were VERY late they left at 6:45 and ppl did not get great seats like us early birds did. Everyone made it on time but just did not get good seats or had to stand. DON'T freek out when you see the body snatcher martching sideways up and down and inbetween each row (except our guys who were sticks - flag holders) It was a weird sight and yes we had quite a few that were carried off. I was down at the very end in front of the Spec Ops 818 my Division so I did not see them but afterward I was told. None from 818 fainted. But moms it happens - so if it happens to your recruit - just be supportive and loving!

Grad n Go - My son was. We had only PIR with him and then met him at the Midway airport at 0200 the next morning to hang with him and his buddies while he waiting to leave. Now that was the best 12 hours of my life. We laughed till my side hurt listening to their stories. So dont dispare if they are GnG - It was a GREAT day!

Well, good luck and Godspeed! Ill check back in later on! {{HUGS}}
