Hello All!!

sailorjay--I know you can carry cookies because one of my friends did.

Ive seen some questions about calls and BS21..
Calls-Dont expect a call just because another recruit called their parent or another division called.. There isnt always a set schedule for calls and they can be earned and/or lost by divisions during accomplishments of tasks. There were 5 div total for us. My son got the call when arrived and one other call. His division earned extra 15min on that call when they got their Academic flag scoring highest overall on Test 1. But another division kinda struggles and there wasnt a phone call and not many letters home. And our 900 division (which are the ones that do alot with PIRs and work around base) had one girl that seemed to work near phones and called her mom bout 3 times. Others got couple extra calls like when needed info for paperwork when changing rates or some girls requested things from home for PIR (like straighteners, contacts, etc). I was lucky because one of our moms in our groups son was a lead recruit for Zacs division so he would know things and schedules and she could tell us when to expect what.

BS21- Our 900 division went on Mon night with stragglers from previous PIRs that were delayed in grad from either injuries or sickness. Then our remaining 4 brother div went on Tues. There were a few that didnt pass those first times and they reran BS on that Wed.

@Sailorjay I am also considering baking goodies. I was going to put in disposable "tupperware" and put between clothes in carryon bag or in backpack. Its not liquid,so should be ok. I will probably put some more in checked bags just in case.

Can't sleep and are reading up in what is going on. have been reading about what to bring to PIR. Have a question? Can you bring cookies on the airlines? my sons birthday is sept 29 and I wanted to bake his favorite cookies; with all the regulations I thought I would ask airlines, but haven't been able to get thru to a live person. Anybody know?
Saying prayers to Texas. Also prayers to family of 9/11. And major prayers to all the recruits. Guess I'd better to get to sleep, before the sun comes up.

Random history-September
8, 1900, a strong hurricane made landfall in Galveston, Texas with sustained winds of 125 mph. 8,000 people were killed, making this the deadliest U.S. disaster
Prayers for all of TX tonight. Lots of friends and family under water, some without electricity, and still watching the sky for those twisters...

@Tifani- feel free to start a discussion above for your ship/div. Others will be able to find you this way. Each div is on a different call schedule. 946 hasn't had a call in over 2 weeks, but I think 326 got calls on the 30th. Letters seem to be coming in regularly from 946, but not as regular for others. This week is Hell Week for most, but not all will be on the same day. Ask your SR what week and day he is on in your next letter. Also have him date the letter so you can see match it up on your calendar. This will help you know where he is when you actually get his letter. Most of all remember that no news is good news!

Congrats on the Ceremonial Guard! Prayers for good new there!

On BStations schedules, occasionally they skip a Sunday and double divisions up.
My son's group had 9 divisions. They went Thurs night, then Sun-Wed nights, I believe. The 900 division usually goes on Monday night. Sometimes alone, sometimes with 2 brother divisions. They start with the lowest number divisions and progress to the highest.

Be sure to start asking your recruits if they know their date and post so that LTLY can get a schedule going at the top!

BattleStations. The final test for the recruits before they become sailors. You can see the youtube about it by CNN.

The Navy Scrapbook- Says "The United States Navy" and has a raised emblem. It is made by K&Company. You should be able to call Michaels and get an item number. I don't know if you can use coupons online or not. Here is a pic of it.

@Tifani
Mixed reviews on the shuttle vs drive to PIR. If your hotel offers a free shuttle, sign up early. If you drive yourself, leave early. Either way there is about a 15 min walk from the parking lot to the ceremony hall. We are also expecting temps to be around 70 for the hi, and most likely windy, possibly rainy. Look above in the discussions (view all) and check out the 'what to bring' disc. Good info.
