Small world isn't it Diane!! I love stories like that.

Ok, what a small world it is....my son lived and worked about 2 hours from our home for 1.5 years as he interned, etc...before the Navy. I met a mom on N4M's who lives up there. In the course of "chatting" on here, we found out that both of her sons and mine worked at the same place at the same time! When I texted my son, he knew exactly who I was talking about and had hung out with them when he lived there. Her 3rd son (whom he didn't know) is in Navy bc now. You just never know who you will meet on N4M's!

@reeniegalla, awe.... thanks!! I guess what bugs me is that I teach on the University level and you would never know that by my spelling, but you probably see it in my lengthy posts (we can never stop being teachers - or Mom's for that matter!) lol....

Jane: SOBE is exactly correct. My son failed his first academic test...I didn't know because he retook and did fine and there was no call (he told me this in a phone call). When he got asmoed, he called me the day he left his division (he was asmoed for other reasons). They are very considerate with it comes to PIR plans...or as considerate as they can be! When my son joined the next division (after the asmo), he also called to give me his new info...He also said that they had study groups for the tests in this new division. He did well on all of them then. I wouldn't worry!
NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS! :-)
And, as you can see, SOBE is great with the answers too! :-)

I really wish this site had spell check and grammar check - I read my posts and want to scream! I am missing words, have bad spelling, etc. So sorry ladies!

@Jane - your son is not the first who wanted to quit, and I'm so proud of you for stating this out loud, because other moms need to hear this to feel better about the letters they get. Just so you know, they are never allowed to "quit" boot camp. Yes, some are kicked out for behavior because they really do want out of their, but it's not a good thing for their record and will haunt them for years. But the RDC's know that our recruits want this to just be over and they know the recruits say they would like to quit, but not really. It's the RDC's job to teach them everything they need to know and to push them to do that - remember, the RDC has a job too, and they are evaluated on their success of training recruits, so they don't want anyone to fail because it's a reflection on their work!

@Jane - not all test failures will set a recruit back (change their PIR date), depending on the test and other factors, they often have the opportunity to re-do it. Especially PFA's and of course, BS-21. My understanding of a recruit calling home about a change of PIR date is that they would call you "that" day. The Navy understands people make plans, so I believe they are punctual on this matter. But they do everything they can to help the recruit before they set them back (which is a good thing!). So, no news really is good news!

Ladies, pray for the family/friends of James Michael Swink. He was a Navy corpsman in Afghanistan, killed on Thurs, the 26th. I understand he had only been over there for 6 weeks.
