Ladies, ask your recruits if any in their division who are not receiving mail. If there are some, get their names. Please post that you have some names/addresses and then we can private message you to get them and write a letter. Mail means EVERYTHING to them. Don't post the addresses on here...just post that you have some and ask people to message you to receive them. We want all of these recruits to have mail!

Ohhhhhh ok... I bet she looks so cute... I wish she could send a pic! LOL Ohhh I have a pic with her in traditional army fatigues that she was going to wear to paintball (this was a suprise birthday party for her) her boyfriend told her it was just her and him, then we show up there with around 10 boys and 3 girls for paintball. She was scared, we told her it was to toughen her up for real boot camp. She hid behind the obstacles most of the time, never got hit once LOL

@TiffsMom - here's some info that may help you!

E-1 = SR, Seaman Recruit
E-2 = SA, Seaman Apprentice
E-3 = SN, Seaman
E-4 = 3, Petty Officer Third Class
E-5 = 2, Petty Officer Second Class
E-6 = 1, Petty Officer First Class
E-7 = C, Chief Petty Officer
E-8 = CS, Senior Chief Petty Officer
E-9 = CM, Master Chief Petty Officer

Paygrades E1 through E3 can also have a rating abbreviation preceding their paygrade symbol IF they are graduates of Class "A" schools.
Once they finish A-School, they will be addressed by their rate first, then their paygrade. Using the example of a Sailor who has finished school and is now an IT (Information System Technician), it would read as follows:

E-1, ITSR

E-2, ITSA

E-3, ITSN

E-4, IT3

E-5, IT2

E-6, IT1

and so on.....

NWU stands for Navy working Uniform. They are blue camo. If you went to MEPS to the the swearing in ceremony you probably saw several people wearing them. I remember how excited my daughter was to be wearing those instead of sweats lol.

Ohhh and when she signed it, it said:
Love, Tiffany
AKA Seaman Recruit Sto......
then at graduation it will be:
Seaman Sto...... (the paperwork got turned in for her E-3)
whateve the E-3 means (I know how she got it, just not what it signifys??)

FYI: There are many sailors who have their Navy portraits shipped home if their family is not coming to PIR. Our son was a Grad & Go, so he ran back to his barracks after PIR to get them for us.

TIP: We almost LOST them at the airport on our flight home. It's a very large flat white package (like a plain flat FedEx envelope) and it wouldn't fit in our carry-on bag (did not bring checked luggage). While grabbing a coffee in the terminal, we set it down and walked away. You should of seen me jump - I screamed "Oh Sh#@" and everyone turned around. I ran back to that stand and there it was! The envelope is white and blended with the wall. I'm lucky airport security didn't apprehend it thinking it was something dangerous! So, I did something rather smart for a change and wrote our name, cell & home phone numbers on the envelope - and wrote "Navy Portraits" on it too! If I lost it again, maybe someone would call me.

Lala I will have my order to you by next week!! Not sure if her name will fit, but we'll see!

What does NWU's mean? She said they are wearing them every day now. On one of her notes she said "I don't look like the girly girl you sent off. I still feel the same, just haven't looked in a mirror" hahaha I know that is killing her!! And with the glasses, I'm sure she is glad she doesn't have a mirror! LOL

Good morning everyone, I guess some are having a hard time finding the pics of the ribbons, you all are very chatty lol, and the pages add up quickly :) So I will post the pics again. As for me I am doing the happy dance today for sure. I am going to Pensacola to see my sailor YAY... I have only seen her for 7 hours since May 25th, I am soooo excited. I can't wait to tell her when she calls after her class today.

Diannep, Yes the PST test is a fitness test that they are required to do in the SPEC-OPS Div. They actually had to pass them once a month while in DEP as well. It consists of a series of things ( swimming, push-ups;sit-ups,pull-ups & running) which have to be done in certain amount of time and a certain number of repetitions,
In my sons letter he did tell me he has to iron in the middle of the night! He said they have a strict time table to follow, and you can't just do it when you have some time, you have to do it when they tell you to. He seems to be adjusting well, I just can't wait for that phone call!! Have a good day, everyone.
