Sam's recruiter said there would be a packet of info with discount coupons in it for hotels. Do you suppose those little pamphlets that came with the first letter were what he was referring to?

JessicaB told me how to do it. She also told me how to put some other widgets on, but I am not having as good of luck with them. I will keep trying though. You will need to ask Sam in your letters if he knows if he is G&G. Each individual hotel will have a different answer about a shuttle to and from the airport. You will need to ask them. I am gathering some info about the METRA in Chicago.

Cool countdown clock. Will it stay on there? I sure hope so. Ltyl... did you do that? It's wonderful.
When will I know if Sam is a grad and go? How do you buy tickets if you don't know these things? Do the hotels have shuttles from the airport if we choose pub. transportation? Thanks for all the answers.

Hi Pam! Let that excitement carry you as far as you can into next week!
Flip back a page or two, there has been a little bit of discussion about hotels. Also you can start a discussion above for your ship and div. Before you know it you will be talking with loved ones in the same ship and div!!
And ask any questions...we are all learning together, and have some awesome N4M's willing to help us!

just got the letter ship 4 div 821 PIR 10/1/10! Already marked the calendar.
I am very excited for him. He said ( in his 3 short sentences) that he is RDC's
are very intense and he is loving it! I've got to make some hotel reservations, any suggestions anyone?

You can do alot within walking distance of the train station in Chicago. You can catch a bus or a trolley right next to the train station. The trolleys are free in the summer. I think there will be a fee come October. I'll try to find out how much the trolley is vs the bus.

@LTLY I would recommend doing the research on the public transportation systems they have. The trains into and from Chicago are great. Parking in Chicago is VERY expensive! Taxis are available close to the base. I think if I could re-do it, I would save myself the $400 for a rental car and I would have used public transportation the entire weekend! The only part I'm not sure about is the train from the airport to GL --- you would possibly have to go to Chicago and then to GL. The train from Chicago to GL is called the METRA and from what I hear, the kids love it!

Good Day Maureen! Good day all! How is everyone today?
I have allready made hotel and flight arrangements! I went with the non-refundable non-stop flight @ $293 per person, and if changes need to be made to the itenerary the fee is $150 per ticket. The refundable tickets were over $800 per person, so I am happy with this option and thankful for the advice from N4M!

Today is a good day for us, running on the adrenaline and excitement of planning for PIR! Is it too early to start packing our suitcases? LOL!
Now off to research rental car -vs- public trans/shuttle...any thoughts?
