djloch - The confirmation email notes it's the navy graduation discount. Maybe I'll be able to use AAA on top of that when I get there.

tracie--be sure to tell them you there for graduation, so you can get that special

deemedic--you're so welcome. I tried so hard to plan for our weekend and just wanted to help others so they could account for travel times. remember all attractions in chicago is free to your sailor, so go online and purchase tickets to avoid lines :-)

I'm curious - I booked a room at Spring Hill Suites and called back today to extend our stay until the 18th, in the hopes that we'll have Sunday to visit with our sailor. Both times they are quoting me different prices than what I'm seeing others post online. $89 for King with sitting area, $99 for 2 Queens with sitting area. It's not a huge deal but it is different than I've seen others quote. It is the Navy graduation rate per the confirmation email. Anyone have any further info, suggestions?

Hello All!!!
Just wanted to drop in and say hello and answer any questions anyone may have! My son's PIR was 8/27 and it was AMAZING!! Looks like some of you are already booking hotels and trying to plan. We stayed at the Navy Lodge and loved it. Its only 65.00 a night and 5 mins from base, we even walked it one night from the train station. Yes I said train, there is a train right outside gate 6 that takes you into downtown Chicago. But need to keep in mind that it makes many stops and schedule can change if you ride with your sailor after PIR.

Hi everyone....I just went to Youtube and watched a couple of the Navy graduation videos. I started crying soooo hard that I started choking!! NO JOKE!! I couldn't catch my breath!!! I was gasping and crying at the same time. I was home alone LOL Lord have mercy....talk about something touching! I recommend everyone watching this before graduation so you don't react like I did the first time you see it. : ) I am even more proud than before...(if that is even possible) GO NAVY!!!!

So I have been going thru some things in my house..ya know throwing crap out ..making donation boxes with clothes..etc....and while in the attic I came across a box of "baby shower decorations" and in it was the perfect NAVY BLUE pillar candle from my baby shower when I was pregnant with Desiree....so I plucked it right out and stuck a Navy emblem on it and that will be my Battlestation candle!!!
