deemedic - we are kindred spirits! The letter definitely trumped the catalogue though :)
Vincent's mom - I can also write to the SR your son talked about if you can pass on the address. Maybe between all us mom's we can shower the boy with letters and cards.

@ Vincent's mom...I'm glad you got a letter and that you son is doing great! My son was also in the DEP program. I'd be happy to help write the other SR who doesn't get mail...so if you want to send me a private message, I can write also.

Hi everyone...I received 2 letters today!!. It was all wonderful news!! He is so up beat. He said they received the results for their DEP analysis, (written test, and physical fitness analysis) and he passed! He said if you pass both....and are an E1 or E2, you can move up a rank. He also said that his battlestation 21 is on Monday October 11thl (aren't we suppose to light candles and pray for our SR's on that day?) He also mentioned that someone in his division, (948) has a mom named Tracy and is from Kansas and is on our N4M site. The SR's last name starts with a "G". Please let me know who you are. Anyway..there was alot more good stuff,.Like he is going to church (thank you Jesus), and he said that he and the other guys are like one big fraternity. : ) He asked me to PLEASE keep writing. (Like he could stop me). lol He also gave me the name of his bunk mate, and asked me to write him because he doesn't receive mail from anyone. He said the guy was great and they are becoming good friends. I can't wait to start sending out cards and letters to my new adopted SR. : )

foiling-lady - my son mentioned the butt shot too! It must really be something :)
He said no one in his division sat down for 2 days.

@ Foaling, I've been wondering what "peanut butter shot" is too...

In my son's letter to his girlfriend (which she alsos got today, envelope dated 9/5 and my letter from him was dated 9/7), he says the butt shot hurt for 3 days --- what on earth is that "peanut butter shot" I keep hearing about? Rabies, tetanus, malaria??

Came home to get a letter and the new IKEA catalogue...can't get a better day than that!! The letter was fantastic. I don't know that I could have waited another day. He sounds quite happy and his descriptions of his Navy life so far were pretty amusing. To those of you with kids in DIV343 - my son's the one and only laundry boy! All of my kids had to start doing their own laundry when they started middle school so he has lots of experience...hope your boys are happy with the service :) He really sounds so happy which is such a relief. His comment on the initial form letter was that he was already homesick but apparently for some reason they got there early so they had more waiting time until processing. I'm so happy for those of you who have received letters and calls. I can't wait for that phone call. Here's hoping by the end of the weekend we will have all received letters! You have all made this time bearable - THANK YOU!

I got a phone call about 3 pm! Everything is going good with my daughter, but she said the food was not very good to her, and it was a lot of hurry up and wait. Then I got home and got a letter also, so it's been an exciting day at my house. She said they just started getting mail on the weekend, and that the were able to write on Sunday..
