It appears to the the pattern of late Dana, but who knows! Let's just pray that there are not a TON of sailors going to Pensacola, because then they will use a chartered flight - and we don't want that at all!!! But good news on your future IT, they move up faster to Phase III liberty while at Corry Station. My son was Phase III in less than a month, so he could go anywhere, anytime, all night if he wanted - of course he doesn't do this much because I jump on his case about keeping his "military bearing" and he is trying to save money for an engagement ring (long engagement!). We had planned on coming out to see him, but he finished his A-School 6 weeks earlier than projected and will be home on leave one week from TOMORROW!!!!!

Sobe.... great stuff!!!!! Thanks for the info... I feel better about G&G. Do you know if it's typical for IT's to be G&G?

Thanks DanaMN and christina B, I can't wait for you both to get your letters. I'm looking forward to you sharing your notes. Hope it's really soon! Like tomorrow! Big hugs to you both!

winniesam - YAY!!!!! How wonderful! I'm so happy for you! You're not weird... it's wonderful that you are so close with your boys! I will surely cry when I get my letter... I miss my boy so much! He's our only child and we are feeling quite out of sorts right now without him.

I'm so glad your boy is doing well! :) YIPPEEE!!!!

YES, go to PIR even if they are a G&G!!!

Going to the airport to see my grad & go was actually AWESOME. I don't think I've ever had that much fun in an airport! Midway has lots of good food and the USO is inside the terminal and has a lot of phone banks (for those kids whose parents were not able to give them cells). The USO at O'Hare is outside of security, so anyone can go in - it's above the Delta airlines ticket counter - that airport has good food too. The best part was handing him his cell, laptop and ipod. He was texting us while they loaded the plane (we were waving thru the window at the gate), he texted and called us during his layover and texted/called again when he finally got to Pensacola that night. And EVERY DAY since! Those who are NOT a G&G cannot take ANYTHING back to the RTC base with them after liberty. Most parents go home on Sunday, so their recruit is still there at RTC and communication stops. Then they have to wait for you to mail them their phone at their new base. Personally, I think I preferred having just 16 hrs with my G&G and then constant contact from that point on. We skype every night too! He has internet in his room at Corry Station.

Several of my N4M friends from my own PIR were there at the airport with us, and we adopted about 10 sailors each that day who were by themselves at the airport. Those young men chatted are heads off and told us "old people" the funniest stories for hours - which gave my son and his gf some alone time in the terminal. Most of them had NO idea that their parents could of came to the airport with them - because their MOMS were NOT on N4M. If you meet your sailor at the ticket counter, you can get in line there and ask the airline for a courtesy pass to go through TSA secured area (must have ID). Both airports in Chicago are "Navy" friendly and to date, I have to heard of any airline refusing to do this for families, but it is a gift, not a right.

Yesssssss!!!!!! I got my letter!!! I cried like a baby too! I'll share with you ladies what my loving son said. He said he is doing okay so far but he is still a little nervous but still he is going to do his best! He said to tell everyone he loves them and he said " I especially love you Mom". I'm typing this and shedding tears of happiness and lonliness from missing him. Before you think I'm really wierd, you have to understand that I raised my three boys on my own, so you can understand the emotions. And plus I am a MOM! Anyway, And he is graduating on 10/15 so that's confirmed. Thanks to all you wonderful ladies who listen to me babble on.

christina B. That's a date!

Hi Kelly, thanks, having names dates is helping to connect the dots. We are on board too. Graduation is a most definate, even if Grad and Go. What the heck, I need to call that recruiter back.

My name is Linda and my son is Anthony. He left on the 18th and I received the box on Monday in AZ. I have not received the letter yet but I do have his address courtesy of his recruiter (bless his heart). I am so anxious to receive that darn letter!

My name is Kelly and my son is Curtis. He left on the 19th and I got the box yesterday in CA. No letter yet, but I called the recruiter today and he had his address for me.

Dana - I'm SO going to PIR no matter what too!! :)

I was in the Navy, too... and I thought they had Grad & Go then... but I could be wrong. I will cry if my recruit is Grad & Go... but he's the Navy's now... so I have no say in the matter! However; I'm going to go to PIR no matter what!
