~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I know I get very frustrated at times like why only division 949 hasn't been able to make contact!I just tell myself they are an important and very busy division... Our time to talk will come soon... Until then I will just eat another gallon of ice cream to get me by =)

DIV 949 is the only one with no calls or letters. I am sick from not hearing from her AND I know it's killing her because we are sooooo close.

Alyce . So glad you got to talk to your SR!!! I am glad he is doing so well.   I know you are feeling much better. :D

Comment by CeCe on September 7, 2014 at 9:59am

Ginny, I did not get a call either.  Hoping he will call today.  I called my SR dad to see if he got a call and he did not.  We have an agreement whoever gets the call or letters calls the other one.  Hope to hear from my SR soon.

Good Morning!

That was a great call Alyce, lots of info and I know it warmed your heart just hearing his voice :)

For those getting the hard letters about being sad please know this is really common, especially in the beginning. When I got my daughter's first letter the first line said "Hi Mom, I cried myself to sleep the first night" I can't even begin to explain how hard that was for me but I know you all understand and can relate to how I felt. I couldn't even read the rest of the letter I was crying to hard. My hubby read it and assured me it got better and he was right. After I skipped that first line and read the rest it had gotten a little better but Pdays really sucked lol. Each letter after that got a little better than the last and she went from crying herself to sleep, to it's terrible but I am okay, to this isn't too bad, to I actually like it. It really is an emotional roller coaster for families but it will get better and we are here for you when you need us so hang in there :)

Good morning everyone :)

My son called today! No "official business" this time! I said " so you guys must have been good?" He said "we were 'decent'"! Lol! Guess what? He passed that swim test I was so worried about! The first time! Figures! He said he needs to do better on the push ups though. He said that they run most days, but not a full blown run everyday. He did say that some of the guys in the division don't stop talking when they're told to! They'll learn soon enough I guess. He said it's very hard being cut off from everyone and everything. He said he would be more motivated and generally happier if he didn't feel that way, but otherwise he's ok. He got letters I've sent, and he'll have time probably tomorrow from 6am-1pm to write too. He's made some friends, which made me feel better to hear. Oh, and his least favorite food so far has been chicken burgers! Lol! He had night watch a couple of times. He said the hardest part of that is going off duty at 4am, and still having to get up at 5:30 as usual. Story to ramble on...just trying to help anyone who hasn't heard from their SR to get a picture of how he says it is. I'm sure their turn will come soon!!

I would love to hear my son's voice.  I spent most of the day staring at my cell phone, but nothing, no call.  :(  So sad.  I did get 4 letter yesterday.  I wonder what the chances are of getting a call tomorrow?
