N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

So I can send my sr a phone card? how do I go about getting one? what's a good amount to put on it?

Comment by diannep on September 18, 2015 at 5:08pm

jax:  That is very odd....they are all issued the supply card.  He needs to ask his RDC about this.  However, they DO pay for this card from their pay and it is a certain amount they get on it....that they must use up there or they lose it.  Maybe he decided that he would rather just use his debit card then so as not to chance not using the amount on the card completely before he leaves RTC.

My son said that he did not get a card for essentials that he's had using own personal debit. You know why that would be?

Gpmp, Don't worry there are many things at this point that can get in the way of communication from your recruit. If he was in trouble you would know, they are given a recruit card for essentials so nothing to worry about there. His recruiter won't have any information for you so calling wouldn't help you.

If he didn't leave with a phone card, send him one. Keep writing letters to him, he may have had duty that has prevented him from writing back. All is well, and "no news is good news".

Hang in there!!!

I'm starting to get really concerned. I feel like I'm the only mom who hasn't gotten a letter or call in 03/357. Does this mean he is in trouble? Does he not have money? Should I call his recruiter?

That is great news, Nicki!

Several letters from Ship3/DIV 357...letter synopsis....she hasen't gotten in trouble yet for her smart mouth...living with 99 girls is disgusting...her boots are almost broken in after 5 1/2 hours of strait marching....she's making friends...45 degree angles on sheets are dumb...she's on head crew and in line to be the next RPCO.......she had cold and hates the blankets but overall it's not as bad as she thought and she's doing pretty good....and the best part she loves me and doesn't think she said it enough ☺️ For those who haven't gotten a letter....hang in there....it's coming.
