OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

dlcraig - So sorry about your son. Glad you came here to post. I agree with diannep...he'll get it!

Call PAO (Public Affairs Office) at RTC so they can give you a new address to write to your son while he is in FIT.

I didn't know this (just read it) but there are several different address for FIT Recruits depending on time needed for the run, one for the swim and also addressing by gender.

RTC Public Affairs Office at 847-688-2405

or email at:

dlcraig,

Prayers for your SR son to pass that PFA!!

dlcraig:  I'm so very sorry, but those in his division won't see him.  He has been moved to FIT to keep trying on his run.  So I don't believe messages can get to him through his shipmates.  But keep the faith!  He will get 10-12 more chances, testing every 48 hrs.  He'll get there!  I know there is so much disappointment right now in not being there to see him, but he will get there!  Prayers for wings on his feet!

Ok, ladies.  I hope all are enjoying Sarge's MeetandGreet!  Be sure to get a good night of rest, and be up early for PIR.  You want to get there early!  Gates open at 6:30.....

Driving hint for those driving to PIR:

Stay to the left on Buckley...car line to RTC is on your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around at the train station right past it.  Head back to RTC from the opposite direction.  Easy left turn onto the base!
Enjoy!
