for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning all! :)
Good Morning!
Thank you:) Each day passes I feel a bit better.
sandihass: Yes, totally normal....and it is true that if he is setback for any reason, or if he is discharged, you would be called. So please try and go on the NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS theory now and know that the emotions he was going through are all very normal this early on! You should see him more positive as he gets further in his training!
diannep......he called and seemed like he was not wanting to be there. THey said they would call if there were any changes. From all that I have read I am hoping this is normal. It is all he has talked about.....so we have lots of mail coming his way. It must be ovewhelming. I keep telling myself that he is fine and that we would have heard something by now if that weren't the case. I just wish we would get his letter then I would feel better. I am sure he is not the only one there with this feeling. Thank you to everyone!!
Nicki: No passes for graduation issued....just names on the list put there by your SRs. Lists will be checked at the gate for graduation. There will be no further correspondence received by family members from RTC after the form letter...except for letters announcing awards your SR may be receiving. The only "routine" correspondence received from RTC is the form letter.
sandihass: Not sure if what you mean is that he called Friday and was sad when you talked to him, or you missed a call with no message? But I agree with CatMom....very normal for them to be homesick and miss family/friends. Remember, this generation especially is used to instant communication....texts/emails/cell phone calls, etc. That is all gone for them now during Bootcamp....and it is scary....but they get better with it!
If someone has a missed call from their SR, no message, it is possible it is an official call from your SR with supervision to ask security questions, check on a medical chart discrepancy, or advise of a delay in training, etc....they are NOT allowed to leave a message if no one answers on these calls. They will call again if they need to. Don't panic if you miss a call....but DO tell your SR when you do receive a personal call (or in a letter to him/her) to PLEASE leave a short message at least if you miss the call so you know that it is a personal call and they are ok! I had one of those when my son was there...official call....missed it....no message....I didn't get the whole story (medical question) until 10 days later when he made a personal call home....and I asked him about it. He resolved it with staff without needing to call back.
My daughter is ship 11 Div 360!!
By the way, Carmen, I'm sure your SR will eventually write you/call you and correct the date error. No worries....we can confirm that there is no 10/24 graduation!
Wrong date, Carmen. 10/23 is the correct date. Graduations are normally on Fridays, other than Thanksgiving week, etc.
Good Morning!
