for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

The PIR guest lists are updated by your SRs about a week before PIR. So no issues if someone was left off when you receive the list in the form letter, or names were incorrect. Sometimes they just put Mom, Dad, Brother, Siste. etc on the first list. No worries, they put the names in on the updated list. Be sure to write your SRs with correct spelling of guest names that match ID (i.e., your SR may only know someone by a nickname). Also, remember that ultimately, it is up to your SR to decide who is on this list!
Kamsmom: You will find that some get calls when others don't....even in the same division. This can mean many different things....that your SR had an appt on base when division calls were made, was in SIQ (sick in rack after possible wisdom teeth extraction), etc. Just keep that phone close at all times.... calls are so very random!
Good Morning All !
If you have trouble with the Gate Pass page there is a troubleshooting link.
The two most common problems are:
~not entering the PASSWORD in ALL CAPS
~ Browser issues. Especially IE. Government websites and IE do not get along :-) Don't bother with IE. Use Google, Chrome or Firefox.
BTW...
Some see that there is a "pass" on the Form Letter and that's where some confusion comes in.
The Vehicle Gate Pass that is mentioned on your Form Letter is not for each guest.
The VGP is to be used for your vehicle only (personal or rental) if you intend to drive on board RTC for PIR. You will also need it if you drive on board RTC to return your Sailor after Liberty.
You do not need the VGP if you intend to take shuttle (taxi) to PIR and walk on board. The shuttles drop you off just outside the Gate and you walk on in.
VGP are available for download and print 11 days before PIR on the RTC website - Here is the link: RTC UPCOMING GRADUATIONS scroll down to your PIR date and it will say "Get Gate Pass" at the end of your PIR date. Click the link and follow the instructions.
You must use the Password that your Recruit sends home on the Form Letter. This Password is only available from your Recruit (RTC will not release it to you if you call them so keep your Form Letters in a safe place). It is confidential so do not share it with anyone. Not even those in the same Division as yours. It is a breach in Security to do so. They need to get it from their Recruit.
RTC is a restricted base and all vehicles must have an RTC Base sticker for their vehicle or a Vehicle Gate Pass for entry. (DoD stickers from another Base on your vehicle will not do for entry...you still need a Vehicle gate Pass).
GUEST ACCESS LIST for PIR
There are no passes issued to guests for PIR.
Your Recruits fill out the intended Guest Access list on the Form Letter that they send home to you.
This list is for your information of who your Recruit would like to attend PIR as their Guest. It is not the official final list. That is why sometimes you will see : "Dad, Mom, Sis, Bro ...and yes, The Dog" written on the lines!
After you receive the Form letter, communicate with your Recruit about their list. Let them know if the person can or cannot attend, send them the correct legal spelling of their name etc.
They will submit the Final Guest Access List about a week before PIR. So you want to communicate well in advance.
Your Recruit has up to 2 days before PIR to make any changes to the list.
A Master list is then created for the Security checkpoint at PIR. This is where Guests will stop and show their ID for entrance to Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall.
they put the names on a list when they get there
I read on this site that 10/23/2015 allows 4 passes per SR. I will be at Navy Lodge, but no pass. Just hope to see my grandson SR after PIR (need that hug). Hope to meet some of the Moms from this site because it has been so helpful. Great support group. Ginny (aka connect...)
