For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 10/26/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Paige Ann (Ship 11 Div 350) on September 11, 2012 at 9:24pm: Hi, I just have a question and was hoping someone would have an answer for me.lol My boyfriend graduates on 10/26 and I'm trying to plan ahead just to make sure I can make it all happen.I'm only 18, so I obviously can't rent a car, and I know a taxi is going to cost me waaay to much to get everywhere. Does anyone know if there is a shuttle or something that runs from the airport to great lakes? Or of anyone other cheaper alternatives?

Thanks for providing the area code as we don't typcially pickup the out of area calls unless we recognize the number. Looks like it's back to standing guard over the mailbox again tomorrow.

I'm so glad that you got to hear your son's voice. I am so afraid of missing a call... I think I would just die if I missed one of Spencer's. My son is on same ship, but Div 350. Good to know that they have been allowed to write already too. I will be waiting by the phone & mailbox now!!!
