WELCOME TO PIR 10/26/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yes, indeed I am a navy gf. (I am a mom too! Just not to a navy kid, not yet anyhow lol), thank you all, very much, for the comforting words and for letting me vent and get it all out. Today is better and it seems that each day is slowly yet surely getting easier to adjust. Just have had lots of things going on all at once and never realized before how much I really lean on my giant. (he is 6'5, and I am 5'4) hence the nickname. =). Again, thank you all so much for the comfort.

diannep Thank you very much for the letter info. And the gate pass info! Waiting anxiously to add it to the pile of stuff to take with me! LOL

Your gate passes should be available today to download/print.  As many as you like.  Just use the password in your form letter, in ALL CAPS.  Be checking throughout the day to see when the "GET GATE PASS" prompt is posted by your grad date.

Thanks so much CeeJay45 and Diannep, I really appreciate your very kind words about my ribbons. CeeJay I can't wait to hear how your dad likes the ribbon with the flag :-)

GFTatter:  We suggest that you stop writing about 6 days before PIR.  But, yes, the letters are forwarded to their A School (some arrive, some don't).   And, yes, not sure why she is not receiving letters there but she should be getting all of them eventually.  Maybe she will receive a bunch at one time!

CeeJay:  You will love Lala's ribbons!  Nothing but rave reviews from those who have received them in previous groups!   And as far as the "usual" number of divisions to graduate....the count ranges from 7 (although there was once a PIR group of only 5) to 14....no set amount. The newest PIR group to form possibly will have 15 divisions!  If so, that is the largest I have seen on here since 2009!

And, yes, you are right....with only 7 divisions, there will be plenty of room at this PIR for extras!  The 10/12 group couldn't bring extras because they had 14 divisions....and RTC asked them not to :-(.  I know there were some very disappointed "extras"!

Good Morning All!

Oh, and one more thing.  I kept seeing all of the talk about "Ribbons" and I finally checked it out and ordered some ribbons for PIR, from Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons,

They look really awesome. I can't wait to get them.  I bought 4 of them even though it's only my Dad and me that are going.  I'm not going to give him his until right before we leave for PIR.  He'll get a kicked out of the fact that the U.S. flag was added on them, because he is retired Navy!

That's interesting GFTatter, I hadn't even considered that my son hasn't received all of my letters.  I'm about to send off my 12th letter to him (aside from copies of sports articles, which I found out later I probably shouldn't have done).  I've dated all of my letters to him, but I haven't number them for him.

Got a surprise call from him on Saturday.  We spoke for 56 minutes.  He woke me up, (I answered in one second flat, of course) and he asked me what time it was. I told him it was 7:00 (here in CA) and he told me how jealous he was that I got to sleep in!  LOL  He said they got to call because they were awarded some flags.  Didn't even ask which ones, was too full of other questions.

He graduates in 12 days,  He told me when I would be getting my "call".  He ordered his Grad Pics and the DVD.  I was so worried because in the "Form Letter", he hadn't written down our names and hasn't addressed the issue in any of his letters, but he finally told me (Yes, he still would have an opportunity to put our names down), but there are only 7 division graduation, instead of the usually 12, and there would be plenty of room for everyone, anyway!

He sounds so positive and confidant.  I am so proud!
