Performing at PIR: They always need performers, so don't worry about which division gets to do it! The performers at graduation are made up from many PIR groups, not just the one graduating that week - which is why you will want to ask your recruits when they will perform on other dates, then go to that PIR group and wait for the photo's they post after graduation (you'll probably see your kid!).

Also, RTC has a profile on Facebook. You can only "like" the page, but you will get their weekly updates which always includes photos. Once on FB, go to Friend search and type in U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command to find it!

A note on creating individual groups: Most seasoned N4M moms will agree that having one group (like this one) for the PIR date is the best way to get information, share stories and offer hope to each other. For individual Divisions, it's best to have a Discussion started above, but I will admit, the discussions are hard to read (they go backwards). Not all moms and wives of recruits know about this site, so even though there is at least 80 recruits in each division, you may only have 65 members on this page - so it will be even smaller if the group is just for one division. This is just what others have suggested, so thank goodness we have a free country and anyone can create anything they want - Go Navy!

understand that she was sooooo excited before she left that she didn't sleep. So she wrote that she got there ok, was really pumped, but had not slept in 48 hours. She could not wait for things to get underway! I sent off 4 letters today - I write daily- kind of a diary.

My daughter is on Ship 06 Div 950. I started a group with that name so that thoseof us with kids in that group can get to know one another. Her PIR date is 10/29 also....

I got my daughters box today. Told myself I would not cry but she had written on the inside box flap " remember to smile I love You." so of course I cried. I still do not know if this is her correct group or not will wait for letter to come.

Elaine- no matter where you go I will find you lol. I need to post one with silver letters as well. And I wish the pictures did them justice. The pics are good but they don't even compare to how good they look when you see them in person.

Lala, you've done it again, I heard from my SR yesterday and I look here this morning and you've posted his ribbon. I LOVE it. It is also now the wallpaper on my phone. He sounded great and I got the best sleep I've had in three weeks last night. When those calls start coming for you moms, if the phone shows "Withheld" you better ANSWER IT!!!! That is what my phone said and though I usually don't answer such calls, one mom on another site said that was what was on her phone and she missed her call. I answered my phone, he said "Hi, mom" on the other end and I almost fell out of my chair. Please tape a note to your computer somewhere that it is possible the call will say "Withheld". I would hate it if someone missed their first call from their SR.

When my daughter had PIR there was 2 900 divisions as well. Also there wasn't a PIR the week before hers. They do this a few times each year to give personnel some time off, or so I have been told. :)

A couple of you have seen my PIR ribbons and have already placed orders and wanted me to post a pic here. If you have any questions about them or anything else please send me a friend request. :)

I figured her recruiter did not want to try to find her address. It is Ok as long as I know she is Ok I can wait. I write her everyday. She will most likely hate it when she finally does get all of my letters. LOL....

Got more info in the letter - address makes more sense.. She is ship 06 Div 950 and PIR date is 10/29... Cute 4 line note from her at the bottom of the letter!!
