N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello All!! I'm finally happy to be able to sign in, I was having trouble since I first tried. I have been following all the comments on here religiously since I received the form letter. I have to say, it has been very comforting to know that I am not alone, from stalking the mailman to making a huge scene at the craft store b/c "THE" phone is ringing!! I loved reading it all!!

I have received "the box", the form letter and a phone call 2 Saturdays in a row. Hotel and rental car have been reserved and flights have been booked. It will be me, my husband and our 2 other children, it's a bummer that it is looking like only 3 on the access list for PIR:(

Melinda:  Looks like this PIR group has at least 13 divisions....so far...so that would mean only 3 guests per sailor. We are going by the division numbers that you ladies have already posted here.  RTC still doesn't have the official count up, but it is looking like 3 rather than 4 guests :-(

Good Morning All !

jasonsmom,

You should call the lender to let them know your SR has joined the Navy and is there any way they could defer the payments.  Sallie Mae, a federal student loan lender, deferred my Sailor's daughter's loan payments for a year.  Interest will still accrue though.  She contacted them herself.  She also had a separate university loan which she set up automatic payments with.

When you book your hotel be sure to call the hotel and ask for the PIR/graduation discount. It can be much cheaper than any other rate. The good thing about booking directly with the hotel is almost of all of them allow you to cancel your stay up to the day or or day before arrival with no cancellation fee. If you use something like Expedia or Priceline and have to change the dates then you will most likely loose your money :(

Paydays are the 1st and 15th, they are usually there about 3 weeks before they get their first pay deposited. If they have Navy Federal, which many of them set up during P-days, then payday is usually a day early.

Rhonda, you don't have to rent a car and can take a taxi/shuttle service everywhere. If you will going out very much at all it is usually cheaper to rent a car for the whole weekend than paying for a taxi service. It can cost $70 just to get from the airport to the hotel. Sarge has a taxi service and offers discounts that get you round trip from Ohare to hotel and back to airport for $99 the trip back from PIR to hotel is $3 per person. That same trip from Midway is $150 and the same trip from Milwaukee is $169 so it can add up very quickly and can be much cheaper to rent a car.

Melinda, they are allowed 3 or 4 depending on how mnay divisions are in the PIR group. If the PIR group has 12 divisions or less they will be allowed 4 guests. If they have 13 or more they are only allowed 3 guests. We won't know how many for sure until it is posted on the Recruit Training Command Website but it should say how many on the form letter.

Comment by Melinda on September 23, 2013 at 9:28pm
Per the comment in boot camp moms they are only allowed three guests for their PIR, correct?
