N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I have found so much stuff... I save everything in my favorites folder so I can reference back to it (LOL) then I just can click on the links... but its hard to believe its just his 2nd week when he has been gone what seems like forever already.... :/  - I was pretty sure I found it here.  this site has been amazing.

I asked my son's recruiter why they don't give this information out and he told me because it isn't an official site or endorsed by the USN.. I told him that was BS... I understand, but the information here for the SR's and the mothers is priceless .. especially the moms!

Yes, aVOL:  That is a good recap of bootcamp, written by "Craig" one of our N4Moms veterans (a retired sailor with son, etc in now).  The link to it is actually posted in the "pages" section above under the Members Photo Box called:  What are they doing in Bootcamp.  Craig's link is the first one listed once you click on that one.  Glad you found it informative!

Just know that holidays do not delay their PIR.  Those are factored into the original date.

Good Morning All !

WearsLargeHat:  I don't think so.   411/412 should have just started training week 2 yesterday or today.  Remember, there is a difference between bootcamp weeks and training weeks.  Bootcamp weeks include processing days....training weeks do not.  Training weeks are 6 weeks long, then they are sailors!

Is there a link on tips for letter writing Luvsbichons?

Thank you ladies for the tip on letter writing. My daughter wrote a letter to my SR from the dog and cat. She creatively used a few pictures of them as a watermark on the paper. What a fun letter she wrote hope he enjoys it and shares with his shipmates!. Thanks again!!

I was guessing that 411/412 is on day 2-4 tomorrow (Fri.) +/- 1. When I talked to my son on Saturday he said it was hard to keep track of days, at least at that point.
I completely forgot about Columbus Day, but they'll be pretty far along by then.
