N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

It is interesting to read about everyone's phone and letter experience. The phone call we received from our SR was filled with much more stress. The letters we received today referred to the stress, his appreciation for what he had at home, and the recognition there is nothing he can do about it now but tough it out. He knows he can. He realizes he will have the Navy job he has always wanted AFTER basic training. No matter the content, those letters were wonderful...

BattleStations are done at 6-5, which is training week 6, day 5.

Comment by diannep on September 19, 2013 at 8:57pm

CP-KW:  The training days are actually M-F.  They have 6 weeks of training, starting after processing days.

The lower numbered divisions of this group should be starting training week 2 (probably today), the others are just a couple of days behind them.

Maude: My son is on ship 9 division 417 and as of today I haven't got a call or letter, so are not alone :(

My son is inShip 09 Division 418 still have not received a letter or a phone call. Anyone get a letter or phone call from this division? This is driving crazy. he has phone cards not sure why I haven't heard yet.

Comment by aVOL2 on September 19, 2013 at 8:41pm

CP-KW, my son's letter said the weeks are 5 days long...

Comment by ellen0502 on September 19, 2013 at 8:40pm

Navybeansmom. You are correct! Those first couple of letters and phone calls may make you want to go climb the fence at the RTC, give them a big hug, and then drag them home. :) DON"T DO IT, you will be arrested. LOL

At about week four of training things seem to get better, the homesick all the time has left the building, training really gets started and the divisions start to pull together.

Hang in there, I promise it will get better for them and you!

Got my letter today as well, very sad and homesick and wishes he was home. ;)  So question to those who know.... do Saturday's count as "week days" or are they just "holidays" also... thought he would be farther along (into week 2...) but was still in week "1" at beginning of this week.  Also how soon after week 6 do they do Battlestations?   Thanks for all the support you ladies are wonderful, I love listening to your stories and such!

So happy for you aVOL2 Ship13 Div 412  !!!  I know its pulling at your heart strings, but he'll be ok. (That's what I keep telling myself). They aren't going to let anything happen to him.  They are all going through this and its seems tough at first but in the end it will be all worth it.
