Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The event is listed under the "events" tab on N4M website. Sarge holds this meet & greet every Thur prior to PIR. You just have to RSVP for the date prior to your PIR - so Oct. 31. I will try to send you an invite.

In other news....we got the best deal from Orlando to Midway on Southwest. Additionally - I figured out all the baggage charges and seat charges where all the other airlines nickel and dime you. It was an excellent deal through Southwest.

Comment by Veleak div 418 on September 19, 2013 at 1:37am: For those needing to purchase tickets try Spirit.com for their Spirit flights. Southwest was more than double the cost for us from Houston to Chicago. A friend used them to fly to and from Colorado and very cheap.

At least he got to talk to his girfriend but the message he left me broke my heart. He sounded so homesick and sad. But i get to hear his voice when i want till the next call.

Comment by NanVM on September 18, 2013 at 9:46pm: How do we know for sure (other than good guessing or patient waiting for the official form letter) if this is the group that my recruit will graduate with? I counted off 8 weeks from when she arrived at boot camp, but I understand that doesn't necessarily coincide.
