N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

dmaeship....u gotta keep him motivated. he told u what he needs....send the pik asap along with many many encouraging words to keep him uplifted. I spoke to one of my coworkers (navy vet) & mentioned I wish he were home and his response was very severe. basically he explained how a "military failure" wud effect my son and everything he tried to do afyerwards. a bit severe-but I got his point. we are what keeps them going!

SO excited that daughter is PIR with this group!  Looks like if she had been processed a bit later it would not be that way :)  Looks like SR's who left the same day are in the next PIR date...

Can't wait for her first "real" letter...I sure wish I could see her face when she receives the 8 that her dad and I popped in the mail as soon as we had her address...Christmas! :)

Don't know how you guys are doing (adjusting)...but I am finally feeling human.  After we got the form letter (Monday), I was finally able to get some sleep...at least I know that she has love from home going her way...

To anyone out there that is still...adjusting...hang in there.  I have the feeling that life will never be the same...but lots of times "never the same" is not a bad thing :)

Just got 2 letters from my SR today. Wow that hit me just a hard as when we got "the box". He really misses us and would love to come home. He said he don't want to feel like a military failure. We are what's keeping him going. He wants us to send him a wallet sized family picture. He has to have his wisdom teeth out. It was SO GOOD to hear from him.

Can't wait to see this little boy. He is my grandson. I will see him during graduation weekend.

It is tough that only three are allowed at PIR, but it is what it is (dangit).

This is my suggestion. Discuss with all who will be attending that some will have to stay at the hotel during the ceremony, but there is livestreaming of PIR for all to enjoy. Everyone will be able to see their SAILOR after PIR and spend at least the rest of the day with them, but the final list is up to your SR.

Write to your SR and let him/her know who is coming, explain everyone is aware that not all can attend. Let your SR know everyone is comfortable with his/her decision as to who will be on the list to attend. The rest of the family will be anxiously awaiting their arrival back at the hotel, and to let you know who they have put on the list.

The final list is, and should be up to your SR. Writing this soon about the situation will give you a couple of weeks (and letters) to sort it out with your SR.

Grand parents have less life in them than I do. I'm a young mom and am sure my son will accomplish many things. So if I sit in the chapel or hotel, I'm fine with that. Ill see him afterwards...

KatXmom,

What a noble sacrifice!  You're "mom"--maybe one of the grandparents will bow out on their own to stay in the hotel??
