N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hopefully they will keep it to 4 people because I can't leave my 10 year old alone in the hotel. And my parents would be hurt if they couldn't attend. if it all comes down to it, I will sacrifice my spot for my 10 year old and parents.

Ours is a step-family situation, but my stepson will want his girlfriend to attend, so who gets to attend....his girlfriend or me, his step-mom.  His mom & dad will both be able to attend.

We have the exact same issue.  Bio dad not really there his whole life.  Was adopted and raised by my husband.  Our PIR letter had 4 slots and both men were included.  My husband said if it comes down to it, he will call my ex and ask him not to insist on being included.  Such a hard scenario.

I agree. The whole only having 3 people has been a real head ache! My husband and daughter want to go so bad but where not one of the three my son picked:/ My husband raised my son since he was 2 and his Dad has been an absent parent almost the whole 19 years. Now that my son is doing something honorable with his life, he wants to show face:/ I was really hoping that it was 4 that way my son could at least add my 10 year old daughter.

This whole process has been so hard to get through!

Yes, true that RTC told me via email that under certain circumstances, they allow some "extras" in the Chapel to watch PIR on the Livestream.  But they ask that extras please stay off base to watch the Livestream unless there is someone that has to be on the base near family for some reason.

AVOL:  I don't believe they want people waiting in the cars.  It would be a LONG WAIT anyway as you all should plan to being on base between 7 and 7:30 if you want to have a better selection in seating within your division.  The ceremony starts at 9 and is over at 10:30....

For those bringing extras, please keep your plans!  Although they won't be able to watch PIR "live," they can watch it on the computer and then spend time with your sailor afterwards, which will mean the world to your SAILOR!  So please don't change your plans!

Good Morning All!

I don't remember hearing anything about the chapel, but I know I read some are staying at the hotel so that the sr can see them after PIR. Then they can stream the PIR from the hotl.

aVOL2-Ship13,Div 412-PIR 11/1/13: We booked everything and requested vacation too. I read somewhere on here, where they were allowing some to wait in the chapel on view the PIR through the live stream. If so my husband will stay there and allow me and my girls to go to the PIR. Ugh!
Comment by aVOL2 on September 18, 2013 at 12:30am

--- Can the 4th person access base and wait in the car? (would be able to watch the ceremony on the ipad) but have ready access to the SR after the ceremony.
