~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks Addison's Mom and KatXmom, I will be sending him calling cards tonight, I did put some extra stamps in his letter earlier today. This is a bit difficult for me.
Hi GarayMom! My son is also on ship 9 Div. 417. I just mailed him a phone card today. From what I have read here on this site, you can not sent them much of anything, other then calling cards, stamps, addressed envelopes and stuff like that!
Hi, can anyone me, if its, ok to mail my son his calling cards? And what about supplies? I did send him off with cash in his wallet, will he be allowed to use it for writing supplies?
Emily my new friend! I also wrote my son every day while he was at summer camp! :) I have written him everyday and numbered them 1-12, so far! (plus I sent about 4 extra ones not numbered with some pictures and a phone card) I mailed out a few on Sat. and 3 more today. I want to space them out a little so the mail delivery guy at boot camp doesn't get to worn out! lol Yes, my husband thinks I'm a crazy nut, whatever! :) (just joking, he has been very supportive) My Addison is going to be a yeoman and I think he flies out to A school right after graduation. I will learn more when I get my first phone call and/or letter from him! :)
Hi everyone, I'm new to this, and a little confused by it all. My son is Ship 09 DIV 417. hoping to find others here, along with the other mom who hugged me the day they left, from Meps on Sept 5th, 2013.
I just did the same thing Maude, couldn't pass it up.
Good Evening everyone. My son is Ship 03 Div 415. Hope to see others in the same group.
Just booked my flight for Halloween through Southwest 33% discount for flying that day. Looking for the hotel now. Any suggestions? Navy lodging sounds good to me.
