N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Div. 416 is calling this morning. One of the best 24 minutes and 36 seconds of my life. He sounded up beat and says he is doing well. Butt is starting to feel better after the PB shot. Didn't need any teeth pulled or dental work. He also says he really knows how to fold clothes and make a bed really well.

aVOL2-Ship13,Div 412-PIR 11/1, I asked The Kid, LOL to research what he needed, or to call the recruiters and ask them. However, he was on a" I Need To Watch All The Movies I Can Kick", LOL. I guess he needed his last burst of the Real World and ignored me. Now, I feel terrible...We had just come back from his Bon Voyage Cruise a few days before,13 people went, so with going to the airport so many times, I didn't make the time to research until he left. I will settle for a letter or drawing he sends. LOL

Still waiting for my phone call from my son he's on Ship 12 Div 410. Maybe he won't get a chance to call me. It'd be nice to hear from him I think. Hearing your comments I'm not so sure. I know I'm going to lose it.

I am full of questions this morning. All I find myself doing is researching, wondering, and worrying. I guess that's called, being a parent. LOL My question is as follows... What Is The Deal With Socks? I wrote my son and told him to buy lots of socks because I read that on here, but don't know why?

Comment by aVOL2 on September 14, 2013 at 11:27am

I sent my son with 3 calling cards that I bought  at Safeway for 10.00 each.

Just got off the phone with my son.  He was very emotional at first but he said he's doing GREAT and loves it!!!!  It's everything he expected it to be.  He said the food is great and they're getting plenty to eat.  Not too much sleep but he said he's getting by with it.  I'm so glad to hear he's doing great.  This call was exactly what I needed this morning.  I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my heart just knowing he's doing great and loves it.  God bless our sailors!!!!

We did - but his dad and I just both missed his call.  Thank goodness he got to talk to his girlfriend...for like 5 mins.  He's really home sick, not getting enough sleep but getting enough to eat ;)  What does it mean when he says he is the head PO for his group?

Div 412 is calling !!!!!! ..

My boy called... I heard the tears in his voice...so I had to not have them in mine....  He only gave me 4 minutes, but that was because he wanted to call his dad... he got one of the letters that I sent the other day (I sent with printed pictures of his car and his cat)  he said they are doing lots of yelling but he is good, but homesick.  He asked if I got his Form letter, and apologized for not writing anything on it, he said they didn't give them time to write anything on it otherwise he would of.   He didn't sound his normal upbeat self, but I think he realized how homesick he was when he heard my voice... I cried after I hung up.....
