OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yes, this 3-guest thing has thrown many of us.  But we really don't have a choice here:) Hope it works out peacefully for you.

Thank you diannep, I live in 10 min away from Great Lakes so others can watch at home. but I was wondering about the guest because his grandma was coming from Michigan to the graduation and well I might have to tell his parents that we are only allowed 3 guest. They are not gonna be too happy about that. But thank you so much for the info! :)

Arely  - also see the discussions above for your particular division.  Is your SR your son, boyfriend, or husband?  Welcome to the group, we are happy to have you with us!

You're welcome, His!

Arely:  13 divisions in this PIR group means only 3 guests at PIR....sorry...any extras can stay at the hotel and watch the service on the Livestream!  I believe it has always been 3 guests since they posted that they had 13 divisions (and the 3 guests was posted then).

Thank you so much! I will happily join the group on Fb also, I should of join this a long time ago. But it's never too late :) I saw that we are only allowed 3 guest, but I was confused because I was told we could bring 4 guest. Did they change it?

Hello fellow Navy family, I'm new to this whole thing but I hope to meet new people who are going through the same thing I am. God bless all! :)
