OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Drum role please...... New York is in the house. Whewt whewt. Makes # 31 for all of you who are keeping track. Do I hear # 32. Anywhere out there. Come on don't be shy. Its for a good cause and it will take your mind off of your SR for minute   while you are out doing the retail therapy (As BeachBunny calls it) for your basket.

Rhonda907, glad to have you back! Good news about your SR healing, but sorry about the back to only 3 guest part.  That is hard, but you will get to see her a week sooner!

Yes, Machel, I too would be lost and alone without this site!  I find so much comfort here and as I will have a 2nd SR soon, I may be living on this site for a long time to come ;-)

Sorry 503 808, you will need to keep us updated here if you want me to see it.  I don't do the FB thing.  BTW...thanks for all you are doing for the basket project!  I think it's great!
