Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/02/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I am hoping to be able to meet several moms/wives etc from that area and either have a small party or at least all go out to dinner together. If you live in the VA Beach/Norfolk area or close enough to drive and want to join us please send me a friend request or message. I love meeting other Navy Families :-)

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on October 18, 2012 at 12:24pm: It's okay, lots of people make that same mistake because they didn't know and heck sometimes even when we do know we get so darn excited when we get info like that we forget and post it ourselves :-) It will be just fine. All you have to do to delete your post is click on the X in the top right corner of your post. I really hope you find that family. There are so many families with recruits in boot camp that don't know about sites like this that we often can't find the people we look for. I have a had a real hard time finding the moms of any Sailors who work with my Sailor. I have found some who are close but none that actually have Sailors who know my Sailor. you would think that I could find one person that does on an aircraft carrier lol.

You could ask if there is someone in this group with a recruit with the a last name that begins with Bro and ask them to send you a private message. Hopefully you will be able to find them that way. I hope so and I am so sorry that it isn't allowed.

Comment by kathyr1116 on October 18, 2012 at 11:51am: I'm hoping someone can help me. My son has been at bootcamp since Sept. 5. I have received numerous letters from his, but have yet to receive the "form" letter. He told us he is graduating on Nov. 2, yet we have no information. I went to the recruiting office today for some help and they are going to try and find out why we did not receive the letter. Has this ever happened to anyone else? We want to make sure we can attend PIR!!
