OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi everyone, so sorry I was MIA, I subbed today for my original 4th grade class. They were super happy to see me :-) And, I was happy to see them as well. Then I was busy all afternoon trying to get a lot accomplished before I go to visit my Sailor in a few days. Very VERY happy about that :-D  I hope everyone had a wonderful day.

Craig awesome pics and what a lovely thing for your daughter to say to her :-)

Hope you all get letters this week if you did not recieve them last week!

Here is a PAGE on: Calls from your SR

That first call may arrive at the end of Training week 2 or 3, which means about three to four weeks after arrival. If your division gets a call (Please post if you can so the other moms are on "alert" LOL) and you do not...it could be for many reasons, appointments, standing watch. Unfortunately there is no guarantee for this call and no guarantee if they may "make it up" if they miss it.

One thing, if you do miss it and your recruit does not leave a message...pelase do not call RTC back...could mean trouble for your recruit if staff answers the phone.

Watch for "847" area code, PAY PHONE, US GOVERNMENT mostly.

Tara - They don't have a boot camp coin for the USS Hopper yet. Might I suggest this one for now:

https://store.nwtmint.com/Navy/Branches/ (item 60185)

What you don't want to do is give him his rating (job) coin yet.  He shouldn't get that until he actually earns his rating (example MM, HM, ET, CTI). He needs to be close to completing his "A" school to get those.  But you will need still need that info for later so you can order it now and have it ready.  The best company for that is NWT mint.  https://store.nwtmint.com/Navy/Rate/ALL

For now, I think your only choice is the rate (rank) coin, because there is not a ship-3 coin yet.  If you know his rate (E1, E2, E3) and rating (job) to tell you which color stripes he would have.  There are 4 different colors, and if you buy the wrong color, he will be ticked!  It's a pride thing.  By knowing his rating (job), I will be able to tell you which color he is.  It's either White, Blue, Green, or Red.  Go here to see the colors:

http://www.navy.mil/navydata/nav_legacy.asp?id=261

These are the coins that I would recommend buying.

https://store.nwtmint.com/Navy/Rank/ALL

If you do buy a coin from nwtmint, make dang sure you pay the extra $5 to get it engraved.  $5 is really a great price for engraving, you will not find it cheaper anywhere.

This is where it is really hard.  Thinking about what to say takes along time since you are limited to a certain amount of characters.

For me it was hard and it cost $$$ because I needed a longer saying and a smaller font which NWT mint couldn't do. I needed the coin to be engraved with "Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened!'  because this is what my daughter said to my grand daughter at MEPS when she starting crying because my daughter was leaving.

"Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened!
