Oh the privacy of FB...I know that the Navy has shut down some groups on FB that were not practicing OPSEC and were discussing ship movement, etc....which is a danger to not only the sailors on that ship, but to the security of our country.
Just be very careful what you are posting there.....private group or not... because as Lala said, you never know who you are "letting into the group."
Also, rumors get started sometimes on the Bootcamp FB groups. I had to correct one today in another PIR group that was being passed around on their FB group and had the ladies freaked out. Thank goodness one of the ladies brought the rumor to N4Moms and we were able to give her the correct info to take back to those ladies.
Whether you join a FB group or not, please stay on this group too! We want to make sure that you all have very accurate info. We N4Moms veterans always check with the PIR group which just graduated to make sure that our info was accurate. We want to stay informed. Changes can happen at any time. Just checked with the one who graduated on Friday and so far, they have posted that are info was right on! YAH!
Thanks diannep i will do that. I got a call from my daughter on sat. We had 30 minutes to talk. It was great to hear that she likes it so far. It was great just to hear her voice. I am glad that I read you can bring extra people to the PIR. We have some friends and family that want to go. How do we go about getting them in to see the ceremony.
Yes, plan on bringing your "extras" to PIR! Even in the largest of PIR groups, most if not all seem to get in. It is such a phenomenal ceremony...would hate for anyone to miss it!
lisashd: Contact Lala Ribbon Queen (6 posts below yours) to order ribbons to wear to PIR if you like. They are wonderful...she has been doing this for a long time and everyone who has received them loves them. Just go to her page to see samples and message her if you like!
What are the ribbons you are talking about and what facebook page are you talking about.
Glad you got a call . . . .my son is in the same division but I didn't get a call. I was told he may have been on watch. It is comforting to hear how the division is doing.
A Proud Navy Mom: My son is in Div 352 and yes I did get a call Saturday afternoon around 430pm. He said that their div had a good week thia week and sounded much more upbeat than last week. Last week, he was miserable but this week he said everyone seemed to be getting in the swing of things.
taracottagrren, There is not a problem bringing extras to PIR, they just need to wait until those on the list are all in the door. It is unusual for the extras not to get in and usually happens only when it is a large TG.
I have a question if my brother in law wants to come and we have the four people
He chose mom dad me and grandad but his brother wants to come well his mom really is like forcing him to come when I've explained it's supposed to be four people and it says on His form letter
I apologize if I came across as saying you should not join the FB group, that was not my intent. What I did say was in response to a post that has since been deleted. This "other" group here did not say you weren't following OPSEC rules on FB we are just asking you to be careful.
