OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello 11/02/12 PIR group!

My daughter called today, for the second Saturday.  What a difference from last Saturday's teary 2 minute call.  I did send her a calling card last week, that was the first thing she said to me today "thanks for the card Mom".  I have found out through the day that she was able to call others. I wasn't sure if she would be able to use it or not so I just sent a $10.00 card so that if it was taken from her it would not be a huge loss.  She sounded so much brighter "I'm doing great Mom"  passed my swim test and eating a lot.  For those veteran's on this site, when do you suggest making flight/hotel reservations?  Any suggestions for a decent hotel?

ekuk, my son is also in Div 351 Ship 12! Have you got your form letter yet? I never got the "i'm here" call, but my son did call the following day to tell me he sent his box to his aunt's house because he couldn't remember my address! He called last Saturday for 3 minutes to tell me he had mailed me his form letter so I could give his address to everyone, then he called me again today for 20 minutes! But I still haven't gotten his form letter so I can't mail him anything! Do you know the address? He told me Div 351 Ship 12 and he thought it was the SS Triton, but he told me to "look up the rest" lol! I was so happy to hear from him, but he is worried about their CART inspection this week! Did your son say anything to you about that? My call also came from that area code and town.

"he" not "her"....sorry!

cathyraz:  Welcome back!  You should be able to help us N4Moms veterans handle questions on here then.  So please feel free to catch a question here or there on this page and answer it from your experience!

ScaredmomSandy:  So normal to feel that way right now.  Losing contact with your child is not an easy thing.  Just try and remember:  He is safe, he is learning, he is training, he is being fed well, he is being medically watched over, her is making great friends, and he is safely contained on RTC!  YAH!  That gave me peace when my son was there....to know that he was ok.

Congrats on the calls today, Ladies!

Comment by diannep on September 15, 2012 at 7:42pm

Great idea, Navymom!

The call also may say PAY PHONE with the 847 area code.  Every now and then, a call may come in from another Chicago area code, so we suggest that you all answer all calls when your SR is in bootcamp....just in case.  If it is a solicitor, get rid of the call quickly!  :-)

Hi everyone-I had a thought today...I missed my call last week from my son and was so sad! Tomorrow, we will be in the country at some friends house and the reception will be poor. I decided to change my voice mail on my cell phone and just added a short message at the end of the "normal" message stating "If this is Tyler, I am so sorry I missed your call. I love you, I miss you and I am writing to you. Please call back if you can." I think I will feel better if he can hear a message from me just like I loved hearing his message last week. Just a thought:)
