My son gifted me the frame wich included the Sailor's Creed his picture and that of his division.  He was Master at Arms for the entire 7weeks.  In between crying and hugs, he proudly tole me not to worry about the pictures and DVD as he had already purchased them for me.  Although I'm back at work, still  happily tired and floating on air.  Congratulations to all families who were able to participate.  What an exhilirating and awe inspiring ceremony!!

Bandito'sMom:  Did you mean:  head covered OUTSIDE and uncovered INSIDE?  So glad you had such a wonderful time!

Changed name or our group to "Alumni of ... "

Congratulations Everyone!!!!! PIR was amazing.  I was crying so hard during the Sailor's Oath that the mom behind me tapped me on the shoulder to give me a tissue.  :-)

How has he changed?  Definately feels proud of his accomplishment and holds himself like a sailor.  So still and at ease when wife was shopping at the NEX, instead of hurrying her along.  Followed all the rules like head covered inside, uncovered outside.  Not because he was nervous of being caught, but because those were the rules and he was proud to uphold them.  There seems to be an inner strength and self awareness now.

We did go to the airport to see him off.  So many sailors around.  Was kind of fun making it thru Security with him and bypassing everyone.  Whenever he purchased anything, he automatically got a 15% discount.  Our server at Chili's has a son who went thru BC this past summer.  She was so sweet.

We ran back to Chicago to try the River-Architectural tour.  But by the time we got there the next tour available tour was too late for us to feel comfortable getting back to Ohare for our flight home.  Sailor was at GC by the time we were having lunch at John Hancock Lounge.  So nice that he could text again!

Weekend was pretty stressful as we tried to cram so much into it and accomodate different people with different personalities.  Not used to traveling together yet.    I'll add my comments about the M&G's to the "Attending which one" discussion.  Plans changed and we made it late to both of them, so can't really give a full accounting.

Long drive home but seeing my sailor was the best.  We weren't allowed to see him off at the airport.  He made it to Pensacola before we made it North Carolina. My niece's PIR is 12/29/11.

My Seaman's flight to A school was very early Saturday morning, but we did get to see him for a few minutes before his flight to hand over cell phone, etc. We are glad we were about an hour early, because we would have missed him. So Proud of ALL our Sailors!

Does anyone elses sailor whose staying in GL only have.on base liberty today? My husbands PO told him last night he wouldn't be able to leave base Sunday but I could visit him here, then he said he wasnt sure. I'm trying to figure out if anyone else knows anything so I know what to bring today if he can't leave base.
