Topic on another PIR group...just thought I'd post!

The weeks of BC:

The first week is "P" days, the next six is specific training and classroom time (though they are learning things during "P" days, marching, making there rack etc.), and then the end of the sixth week to the end of BC is BS21, Captains Cup and PIR.

"P" days DO NOT count in the "counting" of days in BC. So 1-1 is the first day after "P" days ends...Saturdays and Sundays do not count either. So, if 1-1 is on a Tuesday...2-1 will be the next Tuesday (and yes a holiday will adjust this...don't ask me to figure it out right now...my head is spinning)

What Happens at Boot Camp - Day-per-Day? (Up to week #6

This is from the NavyDEP site. Craig who is an advisor on this site is retired Navy and very active in helping DEPpers and their families prepare for Boot Camp. This was written by one of the recruits to “pay it forward” to those behind her to help them out as Craig and all the others on NavyDEP website.

Got a card from my SR yesterday!! Yay!!! He had written me a very long letter inside of it & also wrote one to his 6 yr old little brother that I had to have my husband read to him because I couldn't stop crying! He sounded so good! He said that they will soon be allowed to write on Tuesdays & Thursdays too! So I'm hoping for more letters! I am also now a proud Grandma of a Navy baby from my daughter & son in law! Very good last couple of days! Feeling quite blessed!

Yay, a letter from my son today. Nothing earthshattering, just a good ol' fashion letter.
I was just trying to figure out how to send a picture of a pink envelope and a picture of musical notes plus a picture of a birthday card. . . so that he would not really get in trouble, but get the "picture"..... cuz, truly, I could threaten, but just couldn't do the real thing.
He sent wrote the letter 9/29, but date stamped 3Oct. Once he did write, didn't take the mail man long at all. Now, hopefully his Div will get to make calls soon. Sure that call will go to DIL, though.

Remember Monday is a holiday and next weeks mail may be delayed by a day :-( I am not sure if it a holiday for the recruits or not but if it is they should have extra time to write :-D

It is so good to see you back Dianne, I hope everyone is doing better. How much longer will your mom be in the hospital? If you don't see me here during the day there is a good chance I am at work. I am substitute teaching again on a part time basis. I was in 4th grade class Tuesday, high school finance classes today and 2nd grade tomorrow lol. Or it could be that I am busy making more ribbons for everyone to wear to PIR. You know me, busy busy busy lol

Active/Retired military just need military ID to attend and not be on the lists.  And the "extras" usually get in anyway!  They love for those in the stands to be in uniform too!
Comment by diannep on October 6, 2011 at 6:04pm

Lala is correct.  BattleStations is judged ultimately on each individual, although that person is judged on teamwork and individual work.  I too have never heard of a whole division detained.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on October 6, 2011 at 5:58pm
I am sure they threaten the recruits with the chance of a whole DIV being held back but I have never heard of them actually doing it. I have never heard of a whole DIV being held back or delayed in graduation. They do a lot of training as a group but they must pass tests both physical and written tests and inspections as an individual in order to graduate.
Comment by Em2990 on October 6, 2011 at 2:14pm
If they are active or retired, their names do not need to b on the guest list. They can just attend. Have form of identifications tho. So you would have extra space on the list since their names are excluded from the list.

Does anyone know if a person is retired navy do they have to have a pass to go to PIR? Or is PIR only for those who have a pass?
Comment by jennybeans on October 6, 2011 at 10:35am
