Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Karen: RTC FB won't post piks per requests. They have contests on there with the ladies, and the winner gets a pik posted of that person's division! So participate in the contests to see if you can win and therefore get a pik of 822 on there.

Jil: We stayed at Residence Inn Waukegan and really liked it. PIR shuttle, studios and 2 bdrm 2 bth, all with full kitchens. Pool, fitness room, free buffet breakfast each day...fireplace in living room, pullout sofa. About 4.5 miles from base and close to the Walmart center...where Courtyard Inn and Springhill Suites are (also good hotels). Oh, and pet friendly too! We used our AAA discount.

Lizzie's Mom created this group but has had to leave for another PIR group. We need another mom to step up as acting creator...not a hard job! You'll be made an administrator and basically just watch over the group. Watch for innapropriate posts...greet new members, etc. I can give you the full "duties" in a PM. If you are interested please friend me and I will get back to you. Lizzies Mom will be checking in here until then.

Got my first letter today! So happy to hear from my son and can't wait to see him. We are starting to make travel plans. He was supposed to PIR a week earlier but was moved due to overcrowding. He is enjoying all the PT but found out he needed glasses and has the big BC Glasses. He hates them but says its just a thing. More to come!

So happy to have found this group...My son is 26 and left the 13th. He has not lived at home for some time as he graduated from college and studied abroad, so I am use to him not being at home. I empathize with all the moms and girlfriends who are going through that loss for the first time now. I do miss his phone calls and visits, for sure and felt really sad the first week when I did not know his address. Since getting his address it has focused me on sending him letters, cards and notes that are funny, loving, encouraging and upbeat. We are so looking forward to PIR!!! I also joined the Naval Recruit Training Command on FB as they post pictures occassionally. Have already asked them to post a photo of Div 822...don't know when that will happen if at all. It is nice to see the photos and they provide alot of info as well. We all need to compare notes as we get them!
