That is a great question. All the recruits in your PIR group are within a few days of each other in training. usually within 5 days of each other. When they arrive a new DIV or two begin each day and by the last week of training all the DIV's in that PIR group catch up with each other.

That is awesome Bandito's Mom. I hope you have a letter waiting on you as well.

My DIL got her first letter yesterday. SR passed swim test and says PT is getting easier. He left 9/7 and is ship11 DIV 361. I was surprised, I thought it would take longer to get a letter. Maybe the SR training to do the mail was a quick learner. I am still traveling, so no idea if SR sent letter to dear ol mom. Fly home tonight, so first stop will be the mailbox. :-)

Good morning, I hope you all are having a great day so far. I know this is hard but every day that passes is one day closer to seeing your Sailor :-)

Hi everyone!

I'd like to invite someone from this group add the Meet N Greet to Events.

All you have to do is click on the date (in this case it would be November 3rd for the M&G but you would use 11/04/2011 in the title) on the Calendar on the lower right on this page, it will take you to the events for that day. Click "add" and fill in the boxes.

Then everyone from this group may go there to RSVP for the M & G. ANYONE may attend...the Ramada does this for every PIR group as a courtesy, it is free. Those staying at the Ramada will get a voucher for two free drinks and they have a cash bar. They do not mind if you bring in a water or soft drink with you. The RSVP just helps them get a head count so they know how much food to prepare. But I am sure they make a bit extra!

Here is the info:

Meet N Greet

Thursday November 3, 2011

6-8 pm

Ramada Waukegan

200 N. Green Bay Rd.

847-244-2400

When you get to the description box you may add a personal invitation! You can also add the info in that box again if you like.

Seriously though ladies read the post...it tells what happened to me...explains Friday and Saturday Departures and how the "veteran" ladies helped me with my PIR plans.

Amen Skyler! My sons liberty changed two days before PIR! His flight plans out were changed also I believe. (See the post in Pages, "After PIR - Liberty & Friday and Saturday Departures")

I never do this anymore (except maybe when it is official paperwork):

Holding Your Breath

...yeah...you could die...LOL!

My son's PIR was in October last year and we had a beautiful weekend, weather wise. Navy Pier was really cool and it was nice that people came up to him to thank him for his service. There were sailors every where. We took him to the mall so he could buy sunglasses and sneakers. The ones that came home in "the box" were in sad shape. All in all we kept it stress free with lots of pictures.
